I usually find I start messing up if I try and do a single figure all in one go. I prefer to do bits of different figures, building up bit by bit as I go. I normally cannot get a detailed vision of a single model in my head before I start, unless I've previously painted something similar, so find I need to do this. Which is the main reason I've painted both the Terminator and the Ork Nob from WD.
When do find I'm having a downer on being able to paint I try assembling minis to be painted later, or just blocking in basic colours on previously assembled minis. I also find this gives me a leg-up when I do get my mojo back!
I'll post up my Terminator today, and my Ork Nob tomorrow (only because the pics of him aren't on this PC!) and see if they help inspire you, Wristy

You should be able to paint better than me any six days of the week!
