Monday night is gaming night so I'll try to reconstruct the post about Theothrastus writing the check and sending the party off with a note to Kundar when I get back sometime this evening (I need to have a bath and sort a few things out before I toddle off to the bus stop to suffer sunday bus times 'cause it's a bank holiday monday :().

Okay, now that makes more sense. Fortunately we're still in linear mode so it might be possible to stretch linearity out 'till the end of the exam period.

During linear period the following things will happen:

1: The party takes the letter to Kundar.
2: Kundar takes them looking for Chenna.
3: After returning to Millbourne. Mayor Darius Carman offers to hire them to deal with a problme south of town.
4: Linear mode ends.

So considering what you've all done so far, I'd say you're about halfway through linear mode and then it's freedom on the horizon! :)

Warning: the following sentence probably sounds a lot more smutty than it is.

Old Theothrastus didn't want an apprentice but when he caved in and let Chenna study under him he actualy enjoyed it more than ht thought he would. He's more ammenable to the idea now (although he'll wait a while for her return first and may be willing to accept a new apprentice if it becomes clear she's not coming back anytime soon).

While studying under him you'll only be able to learn spells he knows (and I do have a list) or spells that you find.
