Stone Church

So this is my new project, a stone church for my village.
It will be carved from foam, with a styrene roof.
I have a few windows from Grandt line, that will be filled in with glue and painted to make stained glass.
While I've never in me life seen the light shine from inside a church, I will light it since people will ask why make stained glass and not light it. :shrug:

The only part that is really done is the front door. It was made from foam, and earrings.

This one is going to take me a while, since I have to make all of my christmas gifts as well. But this will be the project log for it. hope you enjoy.

How big will your village be, or are you just adding one building at a time?

One thing that throws me with your photos is the difference in colours.  In the 2 photos shown here they appear 2 blatently different colours, light pink and blue in 1, bright pink and white in the other.  I never really know what colour they look in real life.....

That's middle of the night flash photography for ya. The first pic is probably closer to the right colors.

I'm used to taking pics of my plants in the dark as 2 x 600w bulbs make it very hard when they're on.  I've never had such colour variations though.  Have u tried using the flash but with the room light on too?  May make it more uniform.  On pics like above it doesnt matter but your finished work is so good and I think the pics let it down a bit so we cant see its full glory

As this is just wip, I'm not too concerned with it. However, when I shoot the finished project, I always take it outside, with natural light. It really is the only way to go. Even more than that, Elvish stuff get's bright sunny days, while Mannish stuff gets overcast doom and gloom.

The design wasn't "doing it" for me, so I've started cutting bits off and re-arranging it. So I've hit snag #1. It should still work out though, hopefully.

If it makes you feel better I have dismantled my paint desk and packed everything up.  I have become so bad at painting I dont deserve anything more than crayons at the moment.  I will try again in a few months when I have some inspiration.

I can understand that, whenever I shoot something elvish, I look for a very clear, sunny day. Mannish stuff is tougher, I want dark and overcast, but still enough light to shoot.

As for the revisions, I think it will work, I'll try to get some pics up. Instead of being shaped like a block capital J, it will be more a linear design, mostly for the roofline and space saving.

Have you tried printing on transparency (I have some inlet OHP stuff)

it might work well for stained glass windows and if you are adventurous you can make them fit the religion of choice.

That is an option,and maybe I can retrofit in the future, but as for now, I am on a very limited budget (haven't worked in over a year) and am simply using the resources I have available. :icon_neutral:
I'm going to try something I've not heard of before, and try using realistic water for window glass. Although, as I said, I've never heard of somebody trying this, so who knows.

That would be interesting as an effect as glass does tend to gather at the bottom over time.

bloody good idea mate although may look a bit funny doing them all completely in it.  You may have to use the water effect on part of it and a grey for instance on the other bit for realism but wont know til you try.
