why I no longer like GW

I don't game, I only buy figures that catch my eye. I am very neutral when ti comes to GW and just respect what they have done for the community.

That is essentially my exact point of view. I buy GW regiments because they are cost effective for town guard, but I buy other companies (mostly reaper) for everything else. I don't game, and I get my GW paints from the hobby shop, not the GW shop. The closest one to me is on the north side of Detroit, while I live just south, so it's a good hour away. Luckily I don't need to buy books and such. It sounds like a sucky situation though.

Another point I have in defense of GW is that models in general are very expensive. I may witch* that a Land Raider goes for 60 bucks-but I just paid that much for a 1/35 Jagdtiger made by Dragon models. Arguabley, GW has created a community that urges you to use that model for far more then a dust cover for your shelf.


While the models are less detailed, they are a LOT sturdier and just beg for a new player to try and customize them.

True but I don't seeing paying nearly double the price for a fig that I need to customize. I guess this is where we differ then. :occasion14:

Understood-I was merely referring to their tanks -like the Chimera or the Land Raider.    The quality of their plastic tank kits has improved a LOT from the old days-the Land Raider for example is a well done kit.  The prices involved in the whole hobby ARE atrocious tho

The prices are obsurd. I do like some of the new things that have come out, like the new plastic tanks (but hate those prices again!).

I wish there was a company that turned out something as cool-the only good replacement armies im aware of are for squats-and for them ive seen quite a few.


Now I just buy my GW stuff online or at the last day of Gencon.

If you used knights in full plate armour, you could convert them to GW space marines.
They would need the right stance and this would work for chaos marines too.

I've never played WarHamster or WH40K (never considered either one to be a good use of the money), so I've never liked GW.

Only been in a GW store twice. Once, before I knew of the limited selection they actually carried, I went in to browse for games (confusion with Game Designers Workshop, the company which produced the Traveller RPG). The second time was to get in from the rain for a few minutes while in Edinburgh.

Their mythology wouldn't be mythology anymore, if they were doing that  :icon_scratch:

On the other hand, people would have to buy all their brand new minis to fit the new setting. This is something they're good at  :icon_twisted:

I also have to admit that a pre-fall Eldar setting could be interesting.

I know they dont make Squats anymore but did they just delete them from 40k?  I've read articles (in WD) about Squat worlds within the Human systems but these were from a while back.
