Hmmmm.

I thought I would have  a look at the painting services offered, toying with an idea of painted armies
15mm germans "collector" quality at 65p each.....

and their best "showcase quality" 28mm figures at £2.15 each

OK so the price is low, but so is the average wage out in Sri Lanka, as examples of the best quality of work these are appalling, I wouldn't even put them on a table.

their 28mm showcase quality is about my gaming standard for 15mms.

How do rackham do their stuff for the price?

Perv

cheap as they are I think u could do a lot better in a very short space of time than what they have done.

Rackham have certain painters for certain parts of the figures I think.  1 person does all the flesh, 1 person does all the metal, another the hair and fur etc.  Thats what happened for the metal miniatures you see on the site, no idea what they are doing for the plastics though

yes but you charge realistic western prices...  :icon_wink:

We are quite reasonable especially when you factor in the weak dollar. Plus you are talking 15mm or smaller right?

yep.... wild "pie in the sky" ideas of maybe offering painted units....

but as the previous examples are 65p each and i would be ashamed to sell figures looking like that I think it is an idea that will be shelved.

Pretty damn awful.   I don't think they're all quite that bad, though.

Are you going to name-and-shame, Bungle?

Thanks Bungle.  The website is even more uninspiring than the examples you provided.

Still, if he can find someone to pay him to paint at that quality - you can't argue with that.  He's just not getting my money ;)

The Warmachine stuff looks reasonable though. I'd be more than happy gaming with them.

As Matty has pointed out.. they employ 40 ish people full time, and apparently pay good wages for the area.

It shows they do it for a living and not for love of miniatures though

Bruenor Odinson

I do it for both, the love of the minis and the love of money.
Although I tend to undercharge myself on large jobs, ending up with more love than money.
