(Part 1) Aboard the Grey Gull

Aurum keeps his weapons ready and looks around for any signs of trouble.

At the top of the cliff, Raul has a good look around.  He is trying to appear to be looking generally at the environment, but is specifically trying to spot the drop site for the gems as well as looking to see if there is a delegation on its way from the Monstary.

"Great view of the sea from here, eh, chaps?" Raul says.

Raoul walks casualy into the wood a bit casting his eyes about at the trees, although he knows not to travel too far from the cliff. Well a short walk along the cliff shouldn't be too far in either direction but he had to look like he wasn't up to anything important. Ivor cast a dull glance at the boring trees, why, they didn't even have any moving parts.

Bored he walked to the cliff's edge and saw that old Naedath had hobbled back over to the barrels and crates the sailors had dropped off. Now there was something not quite right about those barrels and the pair of crates with them. What was it? Oh yes, that was it, they should be up here. Perhaps a winch, no that wouldn't work, the zig zag path stuck out from the edge of the cliff a bit, could prove awkward.

Aurum cast his eyes up at the sky adn enjoyed the clouds. The sky seemed odd, something was wrong but he couldn't quite place it. Well whatever it was, he'd noticed and it'd come to him later. Looking away to distract himself from a problem that he knew would only exasperate him if he focussed on it, he observed the little boat rowing it's way out to the ship that bobbed up and down ever so slightly on the waves. Why, it was nearly halfway out to the ship itself. He reckoned that if he stood around here for a few more minutes, then walked down slowly, he'd be back on the beach by the time the boat had picked up his companions.

Of course he'd still need to spend a good quarter of an hour waiting for it to bring them ashore but he was sure he could find something busy to occupy himself with. Glancing at Raoul he observed that the wood was deeper than it looked but the path through it was plain enough. What was the man dithering over? Perhaps he was admiring the trees. Aurum knew topsiders liked trees although he couldn't always see the appeal himself.

Aurum tries to stop thinking about the sky but it is bothering him. He figures he can mention it to Rogon and see what he think once he arrives. In the mean time he decides to walk over to where Raoul is and see what he is doing. Aurum yells to Ivor and points in Raoul's direction saying "going over there."

After a few minutes examining the landscape atop the cliffs the small group noticies that the boat has reached the ship once more and is being winched up for the remainder of their group to step in. Ivor is impressed by the crane like mechanism that the ship has, not by it's function, he reckons it could be seriously improved, but by the fact that it's there at all. Most small ships of that size wouldn't have such advanced machinery (and the fact they're still loading by taking up the deck rather than having large trapdoors and ramps and stuff doesn't impress him much).

Slowly the companions make their way back down the jagged path and observe that the little rowboat is now at the edge of the dangerous waters. It should be with them in about ten minutes.

I'm happy to skip that time and start a new thread called On the Eastbeach.
