This is my latest attemp at this figure painting lark! Again reasonably happy with this one, flesh is better but still not great (i know, practice makes perfect).

As always tips/comments welcome (especially how to do blond hair, mine looks too yellow)

looking good.

Blonde hair - Snakebite leather basecoat with bleached bone over the top in thin layers, add a touch of white for highlights.

Your red looks a little pink to me - try scab red, then red gore and add more blood red for the highlights, for edges of robes etc just fine lines of fiery orange and glaze with blood red. If you want darker shadows wash with scab red and scorched brown.

I like it and its a lot better than what I can do.  I dont think the blonde hair looks bad at all, you dont want every blonde figure to be the same shade so try different techniques like the one above and experiment.  The different results will add more variety to the figs and you'll learn more too.

try basecoat mid-light grey, highlight with white, then put a yellow ink over the top it all.  Or for darker blonde do mid grey, highlight with light grey and then yellow ink it.  Add more shades of grey b4 inking depending on how shaded you want it.

I think it looks good.

Bigger picture, maybe?

Bigger picture. It wasn't until i looked at it this way that i saw some of the untidy/messy bits of the paintjob (eg, splodge of brown on the front of robe) but at least i can go back and rectify those.

Thats what I love about painting, that you can always go back and fix it.

nice work there!  good to see the development.  maybe deepen that red a little (red/purple inks into the dark places) but otherwise very good.

Dr.Evil

Good neat painting, good choice of colours.

I find taking pictures of the figure before you varnish, helps you spot bit's that you never noticed when checking with the mark1 eyeball.

Maybe slight darker in the shading and a glaze would help blend it some more.

if you want it redder then a glaze of red or magenta ink will work perfectly.  I know it works cos I use it myself.  I picked it up from Heavy Metal masterclass articles in whited dwarf especially in the big chaos ones they did for Hordes of Chaos (Archaon and Khorne Champs in particular)
