Standing to riding?

Anyone done a tutorial on converting standing figures into mounted figures with minimal loss of detail and resculpting?

Nope, not me.  But if you want a minimum of resculpting, use a different pair of legs that is already designed for a mount.

Got anything specific in mind, Bungle?

looks like I may end up doing some sculpting after all.... i'm not touching the face though....

Bungle just cut it off at the midsection at a slight angle (since most people lean a little while riding. If you are using a different lower body then a little Gs at the join, minimal sculpting to match it up and you are done. If you are using the original legs there may be more cutting & resculpting involved, it all depends on the figure itself. A good trick for the back is if they are wearling a cape/cloak just extend it so it covers the join and it doesn't take much sculpting.

Knees and legs are cut through, but he is on the back burner.

Cut the top off the legs at a 45 degree angle to a strait up standing model and half of a cut on the inside of the knee, slightly to the mount side. Maybe cut a little bit from the top of the toes and bend them down for a more realistic look too.

If you don't understand that (which I could fully understand) I could draw some things up on paint really quick.

ok so you will need:

needle nose pliers,
saw of some sort
putty


1. cut into the crotch area and pull the legs apart as if the mini was doing the splits

2. if the alloy is soft enough bend the legs from the knee down back a bit (gives that riding look)

3. place mini on mount and squeeze/press the legs round the mount (using pliers)

4. take mini off mount and set up pinning arrangement and place blob of putty between mini and mount to make the riding crop then putty over any squashed bit that the pliers made on the legs.
