Kess 2

Well since the original Kess got stolen and the second attempt got delayed, I decided to have a go myself.

Let's start with soem pictures.









Well I'm not very happy with progress so far but here we go. The shield's a major bonus as I was trying out various plastic ones and then the lovely Sally accidentaly sent me the wrong sized shields when I was ordering big round shields for ogres (but we'll deal with that some more later).

Things I want to do:

• Add three crossbow bolts or arrows to the shield as if she's raised it to cover her head from incoming fire and is just about to lower it.
• Add a crossbow bolt/arrow sticking through the bottom of her coat just in front of her left shin.
• Ideally get another copy of the sword Kess should have and replace the cheap plastic "stunt double" sword. Unfortunately the original was stolen with the original, nearly finished Kess ans I forgot to order a replacement recently when I had the opportunity.
• Maybe add a bundle of rope and a lantern tied onto the side of her pack.
• Fix the stupid wanky hole in her sword's pommel and maybe reshape it too.
• File down that rough lump on the edge of the shield where I clipped the tag off. I would've put it down at the back but the part where the hand attached fitted better this way round.

I do like the way I managed to carve a groove in the quillons for her finger to cross through so I didn't need to chop it off and sculpt on the missing finger. I liked that finger and wanted to keep it the way it was.

When she's finished I'll be needing all the tips I can find on painting mexican skintones (well, somewhere between mexican and that light "black" half caste skintone that some african americans have). Kess' colours are reds and browns so painting up her clothes and equipment shouldn't be too difficult.

The original Kess ahs been a WIP since I first saw the original Victoria green preview photo's from Wyrd (they just suited the existing character so well) but here you can see that Kess has got a new (undamaged) shield and seesm to be using someone else's sword as well.

I'm still hoping and waiting for something to happen as far as the original daft lanky girl with inappropriate equipment is concerned but she's bound to turn up eventualy.  :juggle:
