As this was mentioned in another thread.

I thought i'd start something new over here.

My Horse painting experience for quick effective 15mm horses, great for mass painting.

Paint horse overall in the highlight/mid tone colour in acryclic paint.

Let it dry.

take deep shadow colour in oil paint and paint all over horse... put this to one side and do 6 more..

when the oil paint has set for 5 minutes take an old cloth or cotton bud and wipe the paint gently off the highlights of the horse. This leaves a mid tone with some highlights and a shadow on the horse flesh.

Do this for all 6.

then take a highlight colour in oils and dab a bit on the highest highlights, and blend in slightly, wet into wet blending with any residue left of the original shadow colour.

Put horse to one side for a week sitting somewhere warm.

Then paint all the tack. Great for 15mm and pretty quick.

I have only used oils on "shaggy ponies" in 28mm leaving lots of brushmarks in the paint gave an effect I was pleased with.
