Painted stuff

9 times out of 10 I'll paint something and I then have no further use for it...I've got a few shoe boxes of stuff that I'll never have on display...the question is what to do with it all?

Any ideas? Ebay doesn't really appeal...I'm only looking for replacement lead...

Does anyone else have this problem, I don't game and I only display stuff I'm relatively pleased with..

I tend to game with stuff, i don't display it... it just gets put away in a drawer.

If you have stuff you don't want offer it for swap or sale.

If its stuff I game with or someone else games with or wants to game you might get an offer.

Swap shop... arrrgh!

On a related note, would people prefer their secondhand miniatures to be painted (so they don't have to paint them) or bare (so they can paint them themselves).

I know that people will definately fall into the two groups but I'd be interested in painting some of my bare stfuf up to sell it if it'd garauntee a sale so I'd like to know who likes what.

If I paint it and I like it, I keep it!

If I paint it and I don't like it, I keep it!  Then it goes to the back of the queue to be stripped and repainted, unless it is a highly desireable mini and an unacceptable paintjob, then it gets stripped right away.  The main theory is that I'd rather have a painted mini than an unpainted one, so its gotta be exceptional for a finished mini to go in the strippin jar.

If I haven't gotten around to painting it, I keep it!  Unless its something that one of my friends is looking for, or unless its a LE with huge value that I just don't like or have multiples of.

So, Matt -- if you have stuff that you've painted and want to trade, post them!!

If its a miniature I want, it doesn't matter.

If its a miniature I can still easily get, it would have to be something special to get me to buy a second hand one... either cheaper or a nice paintjob, or conversion.

I guess thats why scibor etc sell their conversions for such good prices, better conversions than the buyer can do.

Balgin -- if I buy stuff, the paintjob needs to be at least as good as what I can do, or it goes in the stripping jar.  I rarely buy stuff for the paintjob.

If I sculpt it and like it I try to get rid of it as fast as possible in some way involving money
If I sculpt it and don't like it I try to get rid of it as fast as possible. Period. Dustbin is favourite.

I strip figs no matter the quality, prefer it all to be my own work.  Golden Demon winners etc wouldnt get stripped obviously but unless I get one of those for a couple of quid then I'll never own one anyway.

Maybe put them for auction as bare lead and give people the option of paying extra for them to be painted, quickly of course.  Give examples of your previous work and you will appeal to both markets then.  Everyones a winner baby !

If it's one's you can game with then ebay would work but your not get much more than the price of a new one, unless it really good paint job, if it's not a gaming mini then it needs to be painted to a very high standard to sell unless it's for someone else to strip and paint and then you don't get much for it.

I got £4.19 without P&P added for my painted Black Orc and i was really chuffed to get that.



If i buy a figure it's for me to paint it and not for the paint work that someone else has done to it.

That Boris i did for the FOD conversion comp went for 99p on ebay and that was because Cheddar did a mercy bid on it.  :occasion14:

Bartertown or this new Wargames Market seem good  - I can recommend Bartertown as I recently got some old shields for nothing from another member!
