Description: He is a tall wirey man with leathery tan skin, wild tangled black hair and thick beard, and piercing black eyes. He speaks with a measured, rolling voice in a grim manner, and is in the habit of whistling tunelessly through his teeth.
Background: As an infant washed ashore after being lost at sea, Kiaphas was adopted by an unscrupulous merchant. He (then surnamed Malchoss) ran with young street gangs. He fled the town when the king ordered a crackdown on the gangs. Some of his friends were not so lucky. But then, at first, neither was Kiaphas. He’d stolen a boat during the raids by the city guard, but could not handle it alone in the storm that followed. Soon he was floating in the wreckage. During those long burning days he was given a message from the god Gurthor that changed his life. A sea-eagle led him to an island, where he recovered, built another boat, and returned to his home city. He warned the city of an upcoming tsunami. Those that listened fled, many of those that stayed, drowned.
The survivors might have wanted to lionize Kiaphas, but he had already moved on. That city is now known for the strength of the church of Gurthor.

What do you think of the background - is it OTT? The disaster could be something less drastic like a big storm or tornado.

5 I've not added in your skill points for 3rd level because you're a spellcaster who, not only doesn't have a single rank in spellcraft, but also a divine spellcaster who doesn't have a rank in Knowledge, Religion. I'd like you to put a rank in at least each of those two skills.

Survival: 1He's a prophet. Prophets don't study, they're inspired. I'll wear knowledge religion I guess, as divine inspiration, but spellcraft? He doesn't know how he does these things - he does them because the gods empowered him!

That 5's a reminder to me of how many skillpoints you have to spend at 4th level.
3rd level? That's either a typo or it's referring to your 3rd druid level (4th). I've added his 3rd level skill points.
So how would you like to spread those 5 skill points now then?
Hopefuly soon Rod'll catch up (and CH may yet get round to starting a character, pending GM approval) and then while you guys are all sorting out equipment lists I can check your character sheets for skill synergy bonuses and we'll be pretty much done :).

I am, sitting at my PC now and can have it ready in a little bit. Do you have AIM or Yahoo IM? If you approve of the last character class I sent you (the shaman) then we can get the chatacter made quickly.

It's fine. I'm not neccessarily agreeing that the message came from Gurthor (as he could've been hallucinating) but that little bit of ambiguity is one of the things faith and religion often includes. You have to believe it's true for it to be true (but if it's not true then you can still believe it).
Of course Kiaphas believes it and that's what counts for now. It's a ncie background, I like it. I can certainly see him being a very interesting character to watch.
