Title: What're you working on at the moment?
Post by: Fabian on April 28, 2007, 02:24:53 PM
Yes, it's a 'nosy and bit bored' thread! What are people working on at the moment? I've got Amanthas (Celtos), Anubi Embalmer, Wood Elves (Musician, Wardancer Champion, Sorceress), HF MInstrel, Stalks, Necromunda Bouty Hunter, Reaper Elf Hero, and that Gamezoe dino  :icon_suspicious:

Flip... I better finish (or in some cases start) some of these...

 :blowup:

... To much...

Somehow I always find myself standing with about thirty different projects running at the same time...

I've got about 10 paintjobs in various states but I only tend to finish stuff when I do it in 1 or 2 sittings....

I've just won an auction for about 15 minis from ebay and Cheddar is sending me a box of coolness too so hopefully that will give me some inspiration which has been lacking lately...

I have the Werewolf to finish but he's on the back boiler right now and is second in row to get finished.
Right now i'm painting the Heresy Dwarven Inventor and want to get him finished and his base done too this weekend for the three way challange.
After them i will start the new Heresy Thrud which is calling to me to start it.

I now have a strict rule of finishing a figure before i start another unless i really have to do one for some reason.

I keep several things going at once too, but at the top of the list at the moment, I've got:

Baccus6mm Austrians;
GW Dark Eldar Troopers;
HF Harem Guards.

And I just finished my HF White Metal Cultists today.  Nearly finsihed the bases, then they'll be ready to worshop Cthulu properly ...   >:D

At the moment I am currently painting the Rackham Dwarf Wimmin (with their giant pumpkin heads and unbelieveable lower lips which don't fit their facial structure at all), the Ashlynn convertion, the Reaper Dwarf Woman.

I'm also trying to motivate myself to paint some other things but simply haven't got round to them yet so they can wait (I'll probably set some of the current lot aside and do a little bit on something else in a day or two anyway).

Problem with sculpting is that the initial stages - setting the pose and doing the first layer of putty - is something that goes fast and is easy to do regardless of if I'm tired or not - I can even do it while I'm putting the kids to bed (good light aint all to important). Bending the armatures is something I can even do on the subway to and from work. The final detailing is something that requires a clear mind and concentration, strong light and time for doing the right things during the right stages of curing.
So naturally I end up with loads of poses and skeletons that await getting done.
The alternative would really just be to get less done and do nothing during the periods when I'm bending poses and putting first layers. And that's hardly better.

Putting aside Spyglass projects, hobby wise I have been assembling the Empire Engineer on Clockwork steed and I have a 54mm Heresy Thrud assembled.

Wooo, excellent taste.   I was really tempted to get that engineer on clockwork steed, but I don't have an empire army.  Wife frowned on that purchase.  Maybe after we get some remodelling projects finished, I may be able to get it.  I have my resin Thrud assembled pretty much; debating how much the primer will fill the gap around the arm.  Also working on the heresy dwarven inventor and hasslefree amoy.  I'll take a pic of my workbench tonight (except for the challenges)

I am currently:

Cleaning, basing and undercoating a NSL platoon from GZG.
Painting an SD Gundam robot (it's a Grymn job but someone has to do it  :icon_wink:).
Sculpting an OGrymn leader.
Sculpting a female OGrymn.
Basing/filling Heresy Leaping Lurkers (two of them...one wil be painted ala Venom...when I can be arsed).
Hiding Nannys gin (Fabian told me to  :icon_scratch:...I don't know why?).

I have also been checking my newly issued desert kit and plan to wash my motorcycle...but that isn't really miniature related.

A Star Wars themed terrain piece to go along with the miniature ships they have out. It is for recreating the Battle of Yavin.

Well, that limits it to one of two things, as far as I remember the movie :)

What chapter are you going to go for Baldemyr?

I started with Spacewolves (from my RT days) and when I restarted recently i went with Ultramarines.  I decided to make my own chapter that would allow both types of army-I call them the Sons of Halsgurd. Basically they are the product of a 10000 year eugenics program and occupy several star systems beyond  the ghoul stars.
