Title: The Rant Thread
Post by: Rays Bat on February 16, 2007, 04:25:54 PM
This thread is to pull a Balgy, and to let loose all your pent up rage.

None of this though, please:  :knob:

The rule is that this: :tantrum: Has to be included with every rant. Just because. :icon_razz:

I'll go first. I'm in the market for some new shoes, and I've specifically targeted Vans' slip ons. They look awesome and I got really excited when I heard they made custom shoes. So, I thought I'd go ahead and try it out. I spent about an hour before I finally tweaked the options to suit my perfect shoe, and looking at it, I loved it. So I happily go to the checkout and start filling out my details. But then at the bottom of the page, in small print, is

"PLEASE NOTE: We do not ship internationally. Orders with shipping addresses located outside the United States will be cancelled."

GAHHH! All that time wasted!!! :tantrum:

Ouch that sucked! Well Ray if you want to order them and have them shipped to me I can bring them to you at Salute.

I like the idea for the thread. This one will be a sticky :tantrum:

Thanks, but nah. Can't wait that long. I think I'll just settle for the black and white ones down in the Toon. I am geordie after all.  :toothy11: (...no geordie smiley :P )

OK...reason for ranting... -intentionally stubs his toe-  :tantrum:

Vans are sucky crud*, buy Campers - £90 of the finest trainers known to man. That is all.

My cat has had a dump and I am on poo patrol.  :tantrum:

I rediscovered the black and white checkerboard vans slipons about 10 yrs ago, and I simply wear them 'til they're dead, then buy a new pair.  They last about two years.  Incidentally, Ridgemont High was filmed at Van Nuys High, which was my rival high school growing up.  Half my friends went there.

Then folks started calling me Encino Man because that's where I grew up.   :tantrum:

Got a DVD recorder with VCR so i thought happy days, not i can back up my old video's as you can't buy them on DVD.  :icon_rabbit:

First one i tryed is one i really wanted to do and it's copyed protected.  :tantrum:
Some are fuzzy because they are so old and multy heads pick up all the badness on the tape while an old VCR would show a better picture.  :pain10:
And one tape snaped when i wound it to the end to make sure it was running ok, i fixed it and backed it up and when i rewound it the other end snapped so i had to fix it again...  :tantrum:

To get an idea of the age of some, they predate cert's or are X rate for horror like the hammer horror one,s.  :icon_rr:

I've been feeling really unwelcome over at FOD absolutely nobody ever responds to any of my posts as if they wish I wasn't there or something that's really been pissing me off. I've just been feeling lonely and unloved which, in turn, makes me want to post less. You'd think people would be more friendly considering the tone of most of my recent posts but I bet they didn't even bother to bloody read them.

Oh well, here's the obligatory  :tantrum: thing but I don't think it'll achieve much. I feel more depressed than angry :(.

oops.  wrong smiley...  where's the "yeah that" smiley??

Anyway, Balgin, please don't take it personally.  There's some weird lull in the FoD right now, there really isn't a lot going on there.

I think the longtimers have gotten to know you over the past couple of years, and you are accepted and valued.

So, when is this lull going to vanish, and when are we gonna get new heresy and hasslefree stuff!!??   :tantrum:

Bah.  I've had very few hits on my Cheddarmonger test, but I don't feel neglected.  Too much...

Black and cream rather than navy blue and white.

Makes me feel wobbly but the fun is getting used to them. What's not fun is the blisters on my heel :tantrum:

 :tantrum: (getting it in early)

Here's something that drives me nuts.  I've just completed a move to Glasgow after working in London for 6 years, my boss has been great and is letting me work at home for three weeks out of four as long as I come into the office in London for the fourth week...so far so good.  However the cheapest hotel in london is going to cost me £50 a night!!!!  So for one week in London it'll cost me £350...for just a place to lay my head!  Now a mate of mine has just booked a week in Spain in a nice hotel including flights, meals the works for around half of that.  How is that fair!!!  And I got no help from the HR dept of the company either...

London is the worst city in the world...well it isn't but it's definitely the priciest!!!!

Grrrrrr... :tantrum:

Not to Shots I hope ;-)

I don't know where you have to be in London.. but have you considered a B&B outside London and commuting in?

They might give you a reduced rate for regular weeklong bookings too.

Of course you then have to deal with commuting  :tantrum:

I lived in Barking up til September last year and they have hotels (just a room basically) for around £40 per night so you're not gonna get much cheaper if you look just outside London.  The only decent option is look to rent a room in someones house for about £80-100 per week, check out the local newspapers in an area you fancy.  £350 per week rent is fine if you earn £1000 per week......

Rant thread......I am a West Ham fan.....this forum hasnt the capacity to take my rants !!!!! :tantrum:

Those shoes.......crikey......they are......erm.....different.....If we were all the same the world would be a boring place !!!!!   I have a tie that matches the checks on them perfectly, same size and colour!

I have two tests to write for tomorrow (a long night ahead of me) and will I be getting a "nicely done, great work" tomorrow? NO! I'll be getting complaints complaints complaints. One of the tests is a grammer test and shouldn't ANYBODY be happy about getting a grammer test? Grammer is FUN!

My dream car is a 1996 Impala SS.  This might seem an odd choice to some- but remember im a Canuck.  An awesome car to me must be powerful and able to travel great distances.  For years i was mocked for my love of these cars by asshats in love with Japanese or German cars.  Mocking my love of a yank car and everything else.

And yet, try to buy one now and you pay through the goddamn nose.  I can pay 15,500 for a 1996 Impala SS with 100k on it, or pay the same for a 2005 Chyrsler 300 C (the one with the variable displacement Hemi engine, rear wheel drive and a good size).  Why the hell do yuppies now want my goddamn car?  I have wanted this car for 10 freakin years through the derision of my friends and family and now it becomes trendy?  What the hell happened to their goddamn Acuras or Mercedes?  OOOH WAIT-I could buy one of those for around 8-10 grand.  Silly freakin me.

So now im stuck with these same people asking why buy an Impala SS when I could buy a 300C for the same amount?  I like both cars...both RWD and both V8s.  I am now stuck with the realization that i might actually NOT get the Impala.  Too high maintenence (parts costs will now be sliding upwards) and mileage to justify it over what is fundamentally an "improved" 1996 Impala SS.

I cant stand yuppy car lovers.  I LOATHE them.  May they all rot  :tantrum:

Edit: you forgot the tantrum smiley :icon_cool:

Had a go at killing myself at work today...  :icon_eek:

Helping get the dirty dish's off the train and stepped off so i could grab them and put them on the truck and my right foot slipped into the six foot ( that's what the bit beside the platform is called where the track's is).
Since my left leg was bent at the time i went stright down and by luck my left knee got in the way of me hitting the platform.  :sad2:
I ended up on my left knee with my right leg dangling in the six foot, i think i must have been holding the bar when i got off (i normally do) or i could have ended up in the six foot under the train (it was stopped and would not be leaving for another 45 min's).
So not a nice way to finish a day's work.  :tantrum:

I want to collect the Zatoichi film's and there are 25 of them and upwards of 100 TV episodes and some of the Zatoichi film's that i have, have been released under more than one title.  :tantrum:

Zombie Flesh eater 3 "The Dead Rise Again!" is also called Zombie 4 "After Death".

Righto, RANT MODE!!!

My job is really pissing me off at the moment, I take in deliveries for a well known UK high st shop, advertised by a sheep dog and sheep not saying any names, and one of the depots they come from is closing, now that's a problem cause all my deliveries are being shunted from one depot to another, to another before getting to me, usually short of stock.

Plus they are splitting the deliveries so I have to work my daily hours arund them, whci I understood when I took the job a few years back. One day I may start at 7.00, and the next it could be 14.00, and finish late, to then be in at 7.00 the next morning.

Generally I get a delivery estimate the day before it's due, telling whats coming and at roughly what time, but this has all gone to pot and I now have to ring to see what time and so on.

WEll this is the reason for the rant, I rang yesterday, and was told that the one and only delivery I was getting wasn't coming until 16.22, so my hours were changed to suit, with me starting at 13.00 and working late, I have just had a phone call from work and theres another delivery sitting waiting for me now (9.30), an overflow missing from last week.
What's pissed me off is there are folks there that can take it in, but they want me to walk for half an hour to work, pull the delivery in (which can take upto an hour), then walk half an hour home again to them walk half an hour back to work an hour later, and I've said no, much to thier disgust.
My hours were changed to suit the later delivery, by the boss, who is on her day off today, so the underling who thinks she's a mini me boss, doesn't want to dirty her hands bringing in the delivery, she's even asked the driver to wait for me to walk down.

I also have to sort the deliveries once I have them in, so basically I have said that if I come in now, and take this one in, which I will have to sort once I start at 13.00, then I will only be able to pull the other on in when it comes, and not sort it too, which as usual there's no one to cover me for that either.

Talk about taking the piss!

Get an air conditioner, i did near the end of last summer as the fan was just moving hot air about.
Mine has an evaporator and ioniser, you fill it with water and drop in an ice pack to cool it down.
It's on wheels so i can put it where i want, well worth the £50 i spent.

I woke up this morning feeling cold and damp about 10 minutes before my alarm went off.

I got up went to the bathroom and walked back into the bedroom.

I noticed a dark stain on the bed sheets only about 2" wide.... it was cold and wet.

I turned the light on.. bang the fusses in the house blew.

I looked up and water was dripping through the lamp shade, I reached up and tipped a load of water out all over the bed.

The water was dripping through the ceiling just around the light fitting.

So I put some clothes on... grabbed a torch and climbed up into the loft space.

The rain is coming in by along the chimeny flashing.... running down the chimney and dripping off of a projecting brick that holds the purlins up.

it then dripps onto the new board we have just boarded the attic out with, runs between the joints, and dripps onto the lathe and plaster ceiling where it has pooled around the light fitting and dripped through.

I have spent most of the morning mopping up the water and trying to stem the flow.

We had the house totally re roofed 5 years ago.

I am black from head to toe... its a 1930's house in a city which had lots of coal dust so the roof space is black from dust - the light circuit is now working.. and the roofers guarantee has just run out.

I am off for a soak in the bath. To contemplate redecorating the bedroom ceiling (the one room in the house we have totally redecorated and finished)

Do I rant  ?

will it do any good  ?

Oh .....

BLOODY COMPUTERS!!!  :tantrum:
Trying to get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl to join an on-line game and it just froze and i ended up having to press the reset button everytime i tryed.  :tantrum:
Then all the icons (yes every sodding one in all the menu's as well) changed to normal files, the registry had been buggered by the resets.  :tantrum:
I was able to copy all the stuff from the main drive to the backup and also my bookmarks, so not too bad that way.  :icon_neutral:
So i have been redoing my PC (still lots to install yet) finishing sorting out the two Laptops after Harddrive and Rom up grades today and no painting done.  :icon_tears:
Only good thing is i decided to try getting the third old laptop working as well and it did.  :icon_eek:
Think it only works with a 5 gig HD and that was the problem (got it off ebay with out a HD) and my old laptop had a 5 gig HD in it before i upgraded it to 80 gig.
If the 30 gig from my best laptop (it now has a 120 gig HD now) works in it then happydays and if i get it working i might have a buyer for it as well.  :dragon:

The Tour De France is running through our local area today and lots of the surrounding area (including the road I live on) is closed off to traffic as a result.

What I hadn't realised is that it'd be closed off to pedestrians, too. Popped out earlier for a sunday paper - normally a 5minute chore. Was then informed by police and marshalls that I couldn't cross the road back home again as "ther caravan of vehicles is on its way." Ended up having to take a 1h 20 minute detour to get home again.

Computer virus's's's's'

I hate the buggers that write them

MY AV software picked up one and sorted it but some dll s got corrupted..... no internet access from home over the weekend

so I repaired from my xp disc.. it decide I had a half bred SP1 and SP2 installation .... no updates... no IE...

Arrrrgh :tantrum:

So a wipe and total reinstall... no good.

So finally last night a total reformat.....

I still have to plough my way through the windows updates.. and I have no idea what I have lost and didn't rescue before the format yet (http://www.customhobby.com/forum/Smileys/default/cussing.gif)

Wish Microsoft would update there update disk so it has all the latest updates and why don't they do update disks for there older windows as well.

As a software engineer I have OPINIONS about software viruses.  Most of those are the same that everyone else has - but the thing that p_ss_s me off most about viruses is that they are written by idiots!!  OK, that goes without saying, really, but let me elaborate.

Most of the problems caused by viruses come about because they are badly written by boy-monkeys without the brains to realise that what they are attempting to do is complex.  It is the bugs in these lame half-_arsed attempts that most viruses are, that cause the most problems for people.  If you are genuinely stupid enough to want to infect other people's machines with your own self-portable little blobs of software, don't you at least want the damn things to stay unnoticed so that they stay on other people's machines doing whatever it is you want them to do? :tantrum:  Have you so little pride in your work that you don't even want to hide your lameness from other boy-monkey virus writers?

Come on you idiots - have a little self-respect.  If you've going to do something bad, at least have the pride in your work to do something bad properly!  Don't let yourself be seen on the internet for the d_psh_t, sh_t for brains, half-_rsed loser that people in real life know you for!!!

It is never k3wl, or l33t.  You're just all 7055p075 !!!!  :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:

Edit: Corrected some minor grammer, as it was originally written in rant.

Funny computers should be brought up now. Today, I got stuck on the start up. It would load the splash screen but instead of starting windows, a flashing cursor on a black screen came up. I could type or attempt to get into Bios or anything. Even the XP disk wouldn't run. I opened the side and started pulling cards out as it told me to do. Nothing. I debated replacing the hard drive with the one downstairs. Maybe the computer downstairs would let me get further and maybe I could fix it. In the end, I yanked all the plugs in the back out and it started working again! A full day behind the desk, getting dirty and VERY sweaty, and all I had to do was take the plugs in the back out! It seemed the DVD rewriter had buggered things up and I tried fixing THAT but it wouldnt work downstairs either so I think it's a lost cause. £66 that cost me. Since I do use it a lot, now I need a new one! I'm exhausted and I haven't had my cup of tea. :tantrum:

Many many years ago a friend wrote a virus and sent it to Norton on a disc.

It was a simple virus.... it made your hard disc spin to the tune of the death march .... constantly until the HD broke.

Reputedly, Norton contacted him and asked him if he knew how to stop it as it had ruined three of their machines and they couldn't figure out how to stop it. :tantrum:

He never recommended Norton to anyone after that, and never released the virus.

Still loading software...... :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Sorry folks but this is a non computer related rant, but one I'm sure you can all relate to.

Just received a rather large order from Olley's Armies, and Gamers Quest yesterday, consisting of ALL the new Scrunts, and a load of Fenryll stuff, and ..............I CAN'T GET ANYWHERE NEAR PAINTING OR ASSEMBLING THE BLOODY STUFF AS I HAVE 2, YES 2 COMMISSIONS TO FINISH FIRST. ARRRGH!!!!!

The amusing thing is, without the commissions, I wouldn't have been able to purchase the above stuff, talk about catch 22.

What has IMO allowed GW to excel has been its gameworld, its miniatures and its art.  The 40k rules have never been that good (but honestly I have tried other games and found them equally crud*) so GW knows that isnt how they keep their fans.  So llooking at these three different areas:

Art:  Everyone here has seen my art(so know im heavily influenced)-the old timers (and some of the new peeps) are absolutely excellent.  While they have had their share of garbage, GW seems able to project its themes well through art.  The recent trend to anime styled Marines/enemies might mean trouble on the horizon

Miniatures:  GW in general still has great looking minis(if you are a fan of the themes they present)-they really do have some cutting edge stuff.  The problem is-other companies are getting better or are as good as GW. Rackham(with its brutal pricing) and Reaper come to mind

Game World:  Maybe im the only one that sees this but GWs greatest strength was a genuinely cool world(2 really..WHFB and W40k).  This is a combination of Holy Roman Empire, Starship Troopers, Dune and a few others.   The problem is that with the addition of new races, this background is being stretched too thin.  Look at the Imperium:
1) The Orcs if ever gathered would kill everyone
2) Chaos is in all our hearts and just waits to turn us all into 1000 eyed drooling sheep/cattle. Let the Galaxy Burn
3)Tyranids The bug menace from beyond.  No one can defeat the Tyranids...NO ONE EVAR.  Our doom is here-let hail the trumpeters of Gotterdamerung
4)Necrons-the ancient menace awakens-Mars itself houses one of the Greatest Necrons-they walk within our society and they want all our souls to munch on over a pot of tea. We cant defeat the, hell we cant even get a hold of their technology to review it.  It all dissapears into Necron happy land for re-use
5)Tau  Ahhh...the glorious anime freaks.  Somehow their tiny empire is growing, is unaffected by Chaos, hasnt been touched by the Tyranids and the Necrons never seem to bother them.

What went from the "Eternal Imperium" of a million worlds, whose continued existance is inievatable and unavoidable has become an empire on the brink.  Its downfall is inievatable now-and nothing your 1 bajillion Imp guard or 1 million marines do can stop that.  My unchangeable escape has become destroyable by the latest "army of the month" fad.  No-I dont just refer to the Imperium here.  Im actually referring to all the races.  It seems as if any hope has been removed simply to chuck another race or two in there-and in so doing they remove my glorious Squats without a moment of care and dont even have care for those players that purchased them.
Oddly enough, the game world has gotten darker as its target fanbase has gotten younger.  Should I blame this all on the Emo generation?

I honestly beleive that GW has driven a good storyline into garbage.  Without the storyline, there is no way I can continue being a fan-Reaper has some excellent toys...as does Rackham(with more boobies even) and I just find myself cringing with each add-on they make.

 :soapbox:

Drives me bloody bonkers.

 :yeahthat: :tantrum:

Only a mini-rant from me today :tantrum:

All you've said is why I still play Rogue Trader, and buy old GW minis that people don't want any more, from ebay.  Sure Rogue Trader isn't the best game ever, but it is certainly no worse than the current version, and more easily customised so you can use those Necrons and Tau that we have (but can't remember why, exactly, we bought them!).

GW have left me behind, really, but good luck and all the best to them - its their company to make or break after all, even if it does seem to be run by *******-*****-***-*****-***-*******s, at times. :tantrum:

I'd like the old company back :tantrum: But that isn't going to happen, so I'll just have to make by Imperial Army from the Book of the Astronmican from ebay-cycled squats and shiny new Grymn and Scrunts marching alongside cut-priced starship troopers (you know, they ones that no-one else wanted to buy, but when they reduced them to 50p a blister pack you just couldn't resist and spent £20!).

OK, this is becoming less a rant and more a nostalgia piece, which just makes me :tantrum: as I wanted a good rant!! Damnit!!!  :sad7:

Why do I post on Coolmini or not?  Am I high?  I put up a mini. I post what I think what my rating should be. What do know it goes down!  So I put in the discription  "If you give me a low score can you please tell me why? I can take it"  Sure enough the score goes down further with no replies why.  I should expect this but everytime I put something up I say to myself "It will be different this time."  What do know! It wasn't.  Maybe next time.

Wrote this on WoM earlier, The three shelves I put up recently, the top one, the brackets wern't strong enough to hold a load of books. So the pin's gave way and that shelf (4ft long, solid pine) and about 50books came crashing down on my display shelf. Then the two shelves and all the books and mini's came crashing down onto my WIP shelf, which in turn came crashing down onto my desk.

I have spent two days, re-drilling and screwing every bracket to get extra strength and putting the shelves back up. Now I have the task of putting everything back on them and fixing a good few models. (Lucky not many broke as most of them were in display boxes and firmly blue tacked)

The only conselation is that my laptop was closed, otherwise the screen would have been ripped off by the sheer weight of it all.

To say I was a little fudged off would be an understatement.

I don't get angry much, just slightly fudged off, so here's a little angry fella who can rant for me  :tantrum:

OK.
A friend of mine is throwing a party with 200 guests. I agreed to do the cooking (I have done on several occasions). Just as I have finished baking 300 pita breads - a two day task - and am turning to the next task they call from kindergarten. They youngest child is sick could I please come and get him at once? I rush there but before I get there I have to attend a meeting at the employment office. I call and cancel that and they tell me of in sharp tones never to let that happen again. I make a doctors apointment for my youngest and get one at 15.45 so I call school to tell them I'll be late picking up my other son and now I'm standing in the kitchen with piles of food and 15 hours to finish eight different dishes serving 200 while my youngest is lying in the couch feverhallucinating. And I've yet to buy half the foodstuff.
And once I've collected my other son, the daugter has come home from circusschool and I've served them all dinner and put them to bed - all the time being a happy nice GOOD, not stressed out, dad - I hope to get some sculpting done...

Just another normal day in my life  :icon_wink:

 Oh, and:tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

i am fudge*ing well stuck in court again. i have been lumbered with judges that sit so fudge*ing late into the evening that i am not getting home until 6pm (i usually am home just shy of 4pm) i gave my boss a talking to this morning as i am so utterly pissed off with the fact that i am constantly left in court having to clerk a slow and incompetent judge whilst the rest of the court staff bugger off home.  i have kids to look after and need to be able to go home in a sane condition. they just won't put anybody else in court (as they whine out of it or refuse to do it)  looks like no evening for me again tonight.    :tantrum:

Wednesday I got my pay slip and they had taken the three days I was off sick off me again, I needed the money for direct debits coming out and went to see the girl who does the wages.....  :tantrum:
Seen the bit_h that does the wages and she didn't believe me that it was taken out last week and went and checked the day to day sheets, which showed that I had worked all last week....  :tantrum:
She said she had no money to give me and I said I would get it Friday as that was the day I would have had it anyway, in an "I'm not worried or give a sh_t" way she said she would see what she could do....  :tantrum:
The manager phoned me later that day and asked a favour of me and I said yes and asked him for one and explained about my wages.
He got onto one of the big boss's and told me I would have it Thursday.
I asked the Bit_h on Thursday and she said she didn't have it and it would be Friday, so yesterday i went to get it and the F'n BIT_H was away to an doctor's appointment!!!!!   :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

:tantrum:  Bloody slack-idle dinosaur-mentality unthinking dimwit CWU agitators are really, really, really P*SS*ING ME OFF!!!  Honest hard-working men and women are being, not only put out, but having their livelihoods and their businesses put on the line and facing insolvency because some greedy, idle slackwits want to be paid to go home early every day!  What is this?  When the hell did I start living in a society that pays people not to work? :tantrum:

Now, don't get me wrong, the other side of this dispute is not being reasonable either and is trying to change conditions to an unreasonable amount, which just makes things worse :tantrum:  But the action being taking by the CWU, especially the unofficial (and perhaps unlawful) walkouts spurred on by agitators after two days of official striking is absolutely and deeply irresponsible and a totally unacceptable way to behave in a modern society that relies on the postal service for the movement of small goods items to keep the economy working properly - and no I'm not actually talking about miniatures. God, I should think we can all survive without miniatures for a couple of weeks (with the exception of the manufacturers we all know and love, of course).  This is much bigger than that and I'm really really, really angry.  I've never even held a gun, or wanted to, but someone who knows about these things needs to go and gun4: some of this idiots and remove them from our society before the really start destroying it. :tantrum:  At the very least, the people in charge of this militant idiotic union should be strung up by their testicles until they are castrated for allowing the rank-and-file members of their union to get involved in malicious wilcat strikes immediately after an official walkout. :tantrum:

But is anything going to be done?  No, of course not because our great leader is so beholden to the unions financially that he can't make a move against them, even when they're crippling an business that his government wholly owns!  Compounded with the fact the he keeps going missing every time there is a real crisis in the nation, it just goes to show why he was stuck as Chanceller for ten years, ruining the economy by building up a ridiculous amount of government debt and just spending it on things that provided short-term vote-winning satisfaction, like some teenager with their first credit card building up so much debt spending it on frivilous here-and-now nonsense and crippling them financially for the future when those debts start getting called in :tantrum:  But will he suffer?  No of course he bloody wont!  Its the rest of us who have to pay for this monsterous level of incompetence and self-indulgence as our taxes are racked up again and again and again. :tantrum:  And we can't even get rid of the slack-jawed incompetent as he clings on to power like a rat clinging to the flotsum of a ship that it has already caused to sink. :tantrum:

Will someone shoot the bloody lot of them, and let us have a chance to at least choose a different bunch of idiots of rubbish* on us for a while? :tantrum:  Then at least we might have a chance of having a decent postal service once more - a postal service that used to be the pride of Britain and the envy of the world, but now has become a home for the work-shy diprubbish*s who can't seem to be bothered to redraft their CVs and look for work elsewhere when their jolly little number is discovered and clamped down on. :tantrum:

On a postitive note.  Thanks to CH for this thread and the chance to get that out of my system :)

OK, I don't even know if this is a rant, but I couldn't think of a better thread to put this comment in. So :tantrum: Actually its more of a "What are they thinking" issue, but I'll leave it here, I think.

So surfing the internet at lunchtime, I visited a usual haunt and was confronted with the photos, linked below.

If I painted a miniature like this, you'd all have a quiet word via PM about the falling standards on my paintwork.  How, exactly do people like this go out in public?

Should I even mock them at all - is in fact some disease that is spreading thoughout society and these people are to be pitied instead?  Are they just victims of a disfiguring disease trying to make the best life they can?  Are they even human, or aliens bent on invading earth?

And finally, and perhaps the most important question of all - which is worse? The Oompa Lumpas or the attractive young women being seen in public dating them?

Actually, a bigger question than that is how can the attractive young lady in the white dress be seen out with someone who's waistcoat clashes with her dress?

I know that I really shouldn't criticise people for their appearance, but in this case I just can't help myself when someone appears to go out of their way to look this bad. :tantrum:

If it's just a blank screen, then your CPU might be buggered from the fan not working right and it's overheated.

:tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

The joy of computers, once I couldn't connect to other PC's round at a mates house, using an ethernet cable and hub.
We had got together to play Deltaforce 1 and mine wouldn't connect no matter what, me and a mate spent a day working at it and redone it from scratch twice with no luck!!!
Gave up and then it started working fine again and I don't know why.

there must be a lot of cheating people that are native to Oz to... not just the Furriners. Can I suggest we send them all to afghanistan or another country which is almost back in the stone age where they have to work very hard for a living.

Thats nothing.  a taxi driver here was telling me he was talliban-and that was just the START of his lifestory/rant on western ways.

I am a very liberal guy in some ways-but ill admit I had a little funy egging him on.  My favorite was where he complained how white people wont allow certain religious groups to carry weapons-it wasnt their fault that the white man doesnt have traditions like that.  Was a blast dismantling THAT idea.

But this goes back to a problem.  Im white enough to attract neo-nazis. and nazis....reasonable sounding enough to attract ranting feminists and uh...stupid enough to drive in Taliban-car.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?  WHY DO I ATTRACT FREAKS?

No old train lady.  Hitler WASNT good until he did his Jew thing.  No old train lady-the jews werent to blame for it.  No old lady.  You seem to misunderstand-im staring straight ahead at the young womans breasts and want nothing to do with you.

I took one of my Dogs to a big Field to day seeing as it was wet all day long I was thinking no one will be there but when I got to the Field there was lodes of kids there with about 4 small dogs. I was like W,T,F is going on its a school day why are all them kids out of school. I go pas them all with out nothing happening at all.
I know my dog is ok of the lead and he comes back when I call him. I move more away from them and I let him off so he can run and chase the birds. I am standing there and I can see all the kids chatting to this woman and they are poting over to where I am but I think nothing of it and go on to the next bit of Field with my dog.

I have now been on the park for one hour and its time to get back on my way back this woman comes up and starts shouting at me ( I was like W,T,F are you going on about )

( be for I tell you more I have to give it to to old woman she has BALLS OF STEEL to come up to me like she did as
I am 6 fut 7 and am on the larger build size now.)

The woman was having a god old go at me and I stood there and let her rant on for a time.

I said look Lady I don't have a lot of free time on my hands so you can rant all you like as I work she then put her hand on my chest and said ( oh no you don't you not going till I have my say young man ) so I said can I ask you then to just tell me as I don't know what your going on about ( she says I told the kids I was going to let my dog eat there dogs and that I was going to batter them all and do thing to the girls.)

I was trying so hard not to laugh in her face as she was telling me this. I then said to the woman do you all ways believe what the kids tell you ( she said no ) I said then why do you believe them now as I said nothing to them at all.

the woman said I shall kill them as this is the 5th time they have made a full out of me then she left she did not say sorry about all that she just went.

As she left I looked at my dog and said what a nut she is hay boy lets go home.

I don't mind the shouting at all the thing that got me is if I had put my hand on her just once like she did to me then I'd be in big dodo.

:tantrum: :tantrum: and that all was my not so nice work with the dog.

Walking about down the main street and this old guy I have never seen in my life starts talking to me.
I'm too nice to just tell him to bugger off or just walk away, so I'm stuck having to listen to his drivel about stuff I don't want to know about.  :tantrum:
Bad enough in the hotel when I worked the carvery , carving the meats and had the same old people each week telling me about the wee shop near them that sold the old fashion sweets from the big glass jars.
If they game me a bloody tip it wouldn't be so bad, but they didn't and I had to smile and nod my head each time when I felt like going  :thefinger:

Right...long day...

Get my hands on Apple new OS, 10.5 Leopard. For my Laptop. (£1400, not something I want to damage)
Partition my iPod and mount the DMG file to it to use it as a bootable drive.

Stick the iPod in, and run Leopard. Choose to install over my existing settings (so all my files remain exactly where they are, just the OS changes)

Installs, restarts, then won't boot up. Just gets stuck on the first loading page. Wait an hour. Restart the macine, without the iPod drive pluged in. Same thing.

Browse online for a while on my main Mac find out that Apple has overlooked some problems where software from A.P.E. can override certain aspects of the command panel and make it's self 'known'. Leopard doesn't like this. (It's not a virus, just A.P.E's way of securing a 'monopoly' on your machine for it's products)

So now, i'm getting restless. Spend the next two hours typing commands into the 'self service' screen. basically manually deleting certain files. And moving stuff about.
Rebooted, still no luck.

Reinsert iPod and force the mac to search for bootable drives. Re-run the installer choosing "archive and install" which puts all your old files into a corner then updates everything else. Allowing you to manually move your files back.

Installer chrashes. Rerun the command, find out there is a ton of problems with the Hard Disk now. So run disk utility in an effort to patch over things until Leopard can install newer stuff over the top.

re-run the installer. Chrashes.

Realise I am about to lose about 2 years of college work, and all my personal stuff. Bugger. get's me firewire cable out. Proceeds to search through a jumbled mess of corrupted files to pick out my stuff. About 25GB's luckily it's all there. So an hour moving that to my main Mac.

Then re-run installer, but use fresh install. This will completely renew my Mac's software. Didn't crash.
Hopefully this is the solution, but i'v got another 18mins to wait in hope. Then if it does work, about 3 or 4 hours putting all my old apps, files, settings, bookmarks, emails back into the system.

Ahhhh isn't life fun.
But....16yr using a Mac, and this is my first problem. Not to shabby, just a bit of a pain.

Gggrrr  :tantrum:

Isn't there another Hell Dorado player in my area?  :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:

I've finished painting my boxed set minis by the end of September, and the only other player I found didn't even had painted minis and hasn't been showing any life sign for more than two months :tantrum:

The only games people seem to be playing massively here are #*ù$µ WH40K and #*ù$µ WHFB :tantrum::tantrum:

But I'm really not interested in those games, first because I really don't like plastic minis :tantrum: and also because I feel like a #*ù$µ retarded when the GW store guys talk to me :tantrum: :tantrum: (no I won't EAT your #*ù$µ green stuff, YES I know it's not TRUE green stuff but you're the only #*ù$µ store selling some in this #*ù$µ area :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:)

The only other minis shop mainly does GW, Rackham crud*py stuff and Warmachine. But I really don't like the Warmachine minis look :tantrum:

I think there's a game club where people play Bloodbowl. I think I'll just blow the dust off my never-played-team and join them.

The worst thing is that Hell Dorado sold very well according to the shop guy, but nobody comes at his store to play :tantrum:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320189858089&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011

The guy emailed me asking if it was ok to post them Monday instead of Friday and I said that was fine.
The parcel arrived on Thursday and was postmarked Wednesday but I was happy enough.
I was not so happy after opening it as only one set was in the parcel.  :icon_neutral:
I contacted him and after three emails he said there was only one sent and he would send out another.
With Christmas two weeks away I allowed a good amount of time for them to arrive, but when It was starting hit the new year I emailed him again and he said would post it out on Wednesday 02-01-08 and I said that was ok.

It was getting close to the 45 day limit to clam with paypal so I waited till 44 days since I payed and reported it to paypal.  :knob:
After two weeks with him no replying and me post three messages I said I would upgrade to a clam today and I have.  :tantrum:

BAD day at work!!!

As you know I work with kids who have problems with aggresions and stuff. Yesterday a kid tried to throw a huge rock through a window. I couldn't allow that to happen so stepped up, grabbed his wrist and removed the rock.
A few hours later the kids mother calls and is stark raving mad apparently because I have physically abused her kid.

It probably won't result in anything (the mother is none to mentally stable either) but I feel very bad about it. I'm as most of you know a very nonviolent and pacifistic person and to be accused of something that is completely and utterly foreign to my nature feels terrible. It hasn't happened before despite the fact that I've worked with kids like these for three years now.

I hope it doesn't result in anything.

Mixed feelings... in my day at school I would have had a good talking too and parents called at that age.

they still allowed corporal punishment too. but kids with problems didn't get treated as well.

I don't know which is best.

I'm very very opposed to corporeal punishment. Only time when any physical contact of an aggresive nature is called for is when you need to disarm someone to protect people or property as far as I'm concerned. Which was the case here. And then the physical contact should be kept to the absolute minimum, which was also the case here. Only reason I grabbed his wrist at the same time as grabbing the stone instead of grabbing the stone directly was to allow for better control of the situation so as to avoid an uncontrolled falling/throwing of the stone hurting either the kid or me.
I should also add that I talked calmly all the while and was by no means agitated or shouting and that similar situations occur practically daily in my line of work.

What is wrong with Dark Sword?

I love Dark Sword's minis - with the odd exception, they are what they try to be - top quality miniatures at a slightly premium price.  What I don't get is why, when they advertise their new stuff, like this recent link on PMT TMP:  http://theminiaturespage.com/news/725602/  do they get their excellent minis painted by people that make them look like old-style flats? :tantrum:

Every sincle picture on that page could either be a regular round, or an old style flat!! No exceptions!! :tantrum:

Granted, the paintwork is also excellent, but clearly done by someone used to working in a 2D medium - so much so that they have lost the 3D feel to the miniatures!!! :tantrum:

'Cmon guys, get a grip and stop ruining your fantastic minis with excellent, but inappropriate paintwork!! :tantrum:

Depends on what you expect from it :tantrum:

I thought it was an OK extra-length episode.  Having been watching some old SG-1 recently, its a hell of a lot better than the one where they get visions of an irritating fat bloke in their heads who makes them eat pie. A totally laclustre piece of creative tat that one is!! :tantrum:

Clearly it must have been written by some numpty new-boy writer without an ounce of talent - or at least I hope it was, because if someone actually made a reasonable amount of money from that script Messers Glassner and Wright need to be strung up by the balls until their wallets fall out!! :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Bloody cat must be dead!.   :tantrum:

She was 19 years old, her eye sight was going and she was more slow and stiff moving.
She was last seen 9 days ago in the drive sleeping and that was the last we seen of her.
She had been bumping into things and walking around the room till she found the door way, she was an out door cat so you couldn't keep her shut inside.
We had been thinking it was time to get her put down and then she vanished.
She either got lost, went off somewhere to die, got run over or some b-stard has done something to her.  :tantrum:
19 years and I don't even have a picture of Loopy, I have taken some but they seem to have been erased or something.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty.  If its any consolation at her age and health she probably did just go look for a good place to curl up.  We lost our 17 year old cat that way. To arthritic to walk well at all, next to no teeth but good health otherwise. Fine one day, then the next was searching out cubby holes until she found one she liked and just laid down and went.

Cheating *****sons rip us off and rob us blind of our hard earned cash!
I recently discovered why Privateer Press' miniatures are so expensive on a model for model basis (compared to when they started out somewhat cheaper).

Those evil corporate sods are doing a really despicable thing. When I've looked at their prices in dollars and wondered why they were so much cheaper (given the exchange rates) than what we were paying for them (even taking import duties into account and stuff like that) I didn't know what I know now.

They convert the price from dollars into euros and then from euros into sterling. That way they actualy end up charging us a fair bit more than if they just converted it straight from dollars into pounds. Surely there should be laws against this dodgey money laundering practice (the ssame sort of laws that should prevent all these evil tax dodges propogated by those rich enough to do so).

Really 'though. They should just charge people the same instead of doing dodgey back room deals to artrificialy raise prices in some places. It's almost racism (and I wouldn't be surprised if certain other big companies who produce games with names like d20 haven't being doing the same thing for years).

My brother has had serious eczema problems and got ordained all sorts of cortizona creams - which never helped. In the end he visited an expert at skin ailments and she provided him with something else (while cursing the doctors ordaining cortizone cream). According to her the body builds up a resistance to the effects of cortizone so it only helps for a short while and then the troubles come back. Usually worse than before  :tantrum: :tantrum:

I'll see if my brother knows what it was that helped him.

Theres actually a fascinating theory that autoimmune diseases and hyperallegic reactions are due to our overly cleani living. You do know they you can't go crazy sterilizing everything when Kay has the baby. I've heard that we help create a lot of the allergies our children have by not letting them get exposed to anything when they are little. Hell my parents let me play in the mud, run around in the park and get dirty all the time, and I'm not allergic to a damn thing.

Yep. That's one of the reasons I don't get ill as much as other people :p. I hate washing. I feel cold for about half a week afterwards (and by that time I feel back up at a comfy body temperature again). It's kind of like how my fingernails hurt for a couple of days after I cut them (doing the washing up's a pain and painting's almost out of the question).

Having no sense of smeel means I wash when I'm dirty, not when some silly german hypochondriac who bathes 3 or 4 times a day thinks I should :p. On the plus side I don't have as many health problems as most of the folk I know (but that doesn't mean the ones I do get are petty minor things either :().

bollocks! i have been stripping an old citadel lava dragon over the past week (there was a lot of caked on layers of paint). i finally look to have it done and dry-assemble it.......

turns out the wings were never the originals and would never fit on without lots of conversion work.

then.....with my eczema encrusted fingers i go and drop the thing on a hard kitchen floor.....

in my attempt to catch it i knock half the stuff off the kitchen surface  (kettle with boiled water, tenderiser, toaster)

suffice to say my hands took the hit of the scalding water, the tenderiser landed on the mini (doing what it does best) and the toaster did for the rest.

had to write off a project i was looking forward to and hurt myself in the process.

buggeration big time. :tantrum:

Actually, "sushi" is vinegared rice, topped with fish, meat or vegetables. There are plenty of authentic Japanese sushi items with no fish at all (egg is a common ingredient). Sometimes the fish is cooked (such as smoked eel, smoked salmon and shrimp). See Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi) for more info.

And "I resemble that remark!"  is a 3 Stooges quote. (Although some sources state it was used in Amos n Andy first) People use it when they think they are being funny.

So my rant is about people who rant about things they don't really understand.   :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

There are areas in Sydney which are low socioeconomic, the sub humans who live in these areas are kind of like Chavs, or Rednecks. Anyhoo, no honour, no code.

I have slowly moved away from treating people from these areas because they will not respect your work, not want to pay its value and generally try to get everything out of life for nothing. They also are the type that think A current affair/ Today tonight. (generally trash journalism that expose dodgy trading/ the latest cancer scare and fear tactics) Is the weapon to get your own way.
They always scream about having a fair go etc etc. The worst stereotype of australia.

I have usually been able to screen these people and steer them somewhere else, but i got caught when i took over my bosses cases. He had been treating this person, (in herself she wasnt too bad, it was the rest of the troglodyte family that were the hard cases) my job was to hand over a denture after getting it relined. I do my usual thing, put the denture in, make sure it fits fine. get the suction right on it. Bingo all good. But the design is pretty ordinary, ie the teeth position looks a bit sub par. But hey its not my job, the patient has had the denture for a bout a year.... the story finished.. but is it. (i only get half the fee BTW I dont care since all i have to do is hand it over )

They rock up a couple of weeks later, livid. Looking for someone to blame etc etc. I politely explain that I didnt do the job, only the reline insert which all was fine. However I want to improve things, so i tell them "look, not the best look, it can be improved." So its not a big deal, just leave the denture with us, we will strip the teeth and reset them in wax. Complaints about being without the denture (WTF i thought you dont like it) Anyhoo, we reset the teeth. Looks good. patient happy. We send them off to the lab to be finished.

The witch* doesnt turn up to pick them up. Sends her sister and then refuses to finalise the outstanding account for the reline. Ive basically worked for nothing to fix up the bosses work  and she hasnt even paid the difference for the original work. Threatened to report us to the Department of Fair Trading. (again no case since i actually fixed everything up no charge)

Meh, im more annoyed that my prejudiced view of these people is just reinforced yet again. fudge* em, i wouldnt trade lives with them and they are not happy people. Im just annoyed that they have the right to vote in elections. Do i sound like a right elitist prick yet?  :tantrum: :tantrum:  Im trying so hard to be a nice guy who loves humanity, and yet bird flu sounds like a good solution to alot of the worlds problems.

well you can always go to sleep with the happy thought that once they figure out how to make a zamboni for glass, we can relocate all the idiots to quebec and nuke the place. seriously ive had my fair share of dits like this, and it never gets any easier dealing with em, but there is the bright side that you will never have to deal with these people again (hopefully) and that should be a somewhat cherry thought.

Play.com were selling "Warhammer Mark of Chaos (PC)" for £9.99 so I orded it and the add on "Warhammer Mark of Chaos Battle March (PC)" as well.
"Warhammer Mark of Chaos (PC)" arived and there was on sealed cover on it, when I opened it the instruction book was well handled, I checked the DVD and it has slight scratch's but was not loose.
WHen I tried to play it online I was tols the code you enter to play online was in use...   :tantrum:
It's supposed to be new but it's used!!!  :tantrum:

I contacted them and they have none left so I have to return them both for a refund!  :tantrum:

I can see why they were selling them cheep as a combine pack of both the game and add on is coming out soon for less than buying them sepertly.

Hi

 :tantrum:

Speaking of GW models - I checked their site in USA & found that it would be cheaper for me to buy from them & have the order sent thousands of miles to me in UK, than it would for me to buy direct from the GW UK! This despite the recent sterling devaluation vs USD!.

Go figure.......

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH  :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: My brand new xray unit is fudge*ed and failed its compliancy test. Has been taken off line. Dont mind that i have patients to treat who are completely new. So an inability to impress them on day one is going to set us back.

So much for having a new state of the art clinic.

So many fudge*ups this month. Im so angry, annoyed, pissed and basically over this crud*. It seems no one can do their job properly. OR its all bad luck on my side.

It sucks because the company im dealing with for most of the fudge*ups, I actually get along really well with the owner, but his install staff cant get it right.

Somebody's just left "constructive criticism" in my eBay messagebox re the portaloos we sell.

"I wanted to quesry you about the scale. I think these are a little on the small side for 28mm. I found you description misleading. I wont leave any feedback for this item but I just thought you should know."

Not only is his spelling all over the place, but the listing clearly shows a Eureka mini next to the loos just in case the description was in any way misleading. Must have sold >200 of these kits and nobody's mentioned them being undersized. Double checked the dimensions and at 1/55 scale they work out at 2.3m tall (about 7' 7") so if anything they're a tad tall.

Then checked the guy's feedback. Lots of minis bought - but nothing other than GW stuff. Hence his misunderstanding of the concept of "28mm scale" ;)

I bloody hate people querying scale. I do this  for a living  y'know :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

My 13 year old daughter is the type who "borrows" stuff from us (usually without asking). From her mum she borrows clothes and makeup mostly, from me sculpting stuff and my camera. Which is fine, she's a good photographer and MUCH better at photoediting than me, but things are never there when you look for them! And now she's gone and lost my camera!  :tantrum: :tantrum: Hopefully it's in the apartment of her friend where she spent the night and will show up 'cause I sure won't be able to afford a new one anytime soon  :tantrum:.

Well, well, anyways. Here's a little slightly disturbing youtubevideo she made with her brothers. Unfortunately we had to shrink the quality of the pics quite a lot to be able to upload it. The music is her playing a toypiano and was recorded when she was nine (can you tell she's a great Tim Burton fan?  :icon_wink::)

Partly antirant and mostly rant

Old patients are finding me slowly and surely, slowly rebuilding my book up again. But here is the rant......

When they are going to the old practice and ask for me, they are told
a: im in another state (old news they like to tell patietns, because its partially true about 8 months ago)
b: they dont know where i am ( consider that one of the girls who works there was a good friend, this hurts even more)

we are waiting weeks and not receiving transfers of patients records, not to mention that they are also telling patients that the patients don't own them, which is bollox.

Im just amazed at how pathetic their behavior is.

"the more your tighten your grip, the more patients will slip through your fingers. "  :tantrum: :tantrum:

:tantrum: =ing plumbing.  I hate =ing plumbing.

Been under the weather all weekend, and consequently couldn't sleep Saturday night.  At approx 12:30am I heard a strange noise, got up, and sourced the sound as coming from the toilet tank.  The washer had gone on the ballcock, and it was only because I was awake that I was able to turn off the water (OK, the wife did that bit when I shouted her awake) and contain the flood to only a couple of gallons of water - so no damage - but if I'd not been awake it could have been going for hours and destroyed God-alone-knows-what before we got to it. :tantrum:

:tantrum: Then, still feeling like rubbish*e and now extra tired as the adrenalin of averting the flood had kept me up until at least 3, I had to spend Sunday morning going and figuring out which bits to buy and fitting them to the toilet - and I hate =ing plumbing with a passion - not least when assisted by our 20 month old angel :tantrum:

Not so, bad really, I guess, but it pissed me right off.  Then Sunday afternoon, the wife comes out with "you're always tired at the weekend".  Of course I fudge*ing am! I'm made up with cold, had little sleep and had to do a repair job I hate while handling a toddler trying to steal my mole-grips over and over and over again. :tantrum:

At least she apologised after getting an ear-full and I didn't have to watch whichever meaningless sports award show it was last night and got to watch a decent game of football between the Bills and the Jets, that was more like rugby at times! :icon_biggrin2:

Getting dumped because my well meaning but rather patronising friend decided my girlfriend wasn't treating me right, that I was somehow too nice and naive to realise it for myself and sent off a disgusted email to her. Without letting the fact they had no idea of the real facts of the situation get in their way. Precipitating a scared, lonely girl with clinical depression into making a decision to let me go "for my sake". Goddamn meddlers!

WHAT!

 :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Reminds me of my old boss, telling me to watch out as my girlfriend was "very friendly" with some guy he had seen her with.

She had known him for 4 years longer than me, and they are good friends.

And this was all because he was a sad lonely bloke who was too scared to chat a girl up, jealous, and hadn't told another friend that his wife was having an affair, so feeling guilty.

God knows what he would think of me sitting in a car chatting for 3 hours with a female friend at 2am, while my then girlfrind was ay home in bed.

Christmas has been quite good this year, even though we're still still stuck in rural North Wales using the outlaw's internet connection and the kids are still winding us up.

But I swear that if another child leaves another crying fudge*ing doll anywhere near me again I'll put an axe through it without an ounce of regret!  Why anyone who has ever had children would want to buy a child a doll that cries is completely fudge*ing beyond me :tantrum:

Hi

Try this one................

Background:

I'm a Diabetic (Type 2), have mobility issues, and suffer from stress depression & some memory loss. So I have to take a few tablets with my food. Run out of food/money over weekend, so DWP Crisis loan in order, or so I thought..........
(Dept Work Pensions office hours 08:30 to 16:30 ONLY)

What Happened:

11:45  Rang DWP, got the Crisis Loan Tel no.
11:48  Rang number, but went through the automated speeches, pressed the buttons, but got "Sorry we are busy..." message. Instead of putting me on hold, it rang off.
11:49 - 14:00. Repeated above constantly. (Had to recharge phone every 30 mins for abot 5 mins)
14:00  Rang DWP again, got different number
14:00  Rang new number. Got automated message, but at least this time it actually put me in a queue. (Progress)! Waiting until....
14:25  Got through, but before DWP could amswer phone out of charge.
14:26  Recharge for 5 mins
14:30  Rang again. Again, in 'queue'.
14:55  Answered! But wrong area - alternate number DWP gave me was for Nottinghamshire, NOT Gloucestershire! They suggested I re-ring original number, as they said it's now working..... (Yeah, right).
14:57 Recharge phone...
15:05 Re rang original number. Now in queue!
15:35 Still in queue - phone went dead.
15:36 Recharge phone
15:50 Re ring original number
16:05 Finally get through! Answering security questions phone dies. Not out of charge, completely DEAD!
16:10 Check connections, etc. Phone definitely dead. (Cue Monty Python Parrot sketch). Try to sort it out. No good.
16:15 Get dressed, hobble to public phone box, short distance away.
16:25 Make call, in queue (again.)
16:29 Get through! Give mobile number so they can ring back.
16:40 They ring back, but say not entitled to Crisis Loan, since I've already used up my quota for year. Explain my health situation. 'Suggest' operator get manager, which he does.
17:00 Manager says last time I can get loan for 12 months, (my notes amended accordingly). Condescending that I should 'budget' better. Grrrr - If I got the extra Disability Allowance payments I wouldn't BE in this hassle!
17:05 Operator arranges for me to collect my giro 09:30 tomorrow.
