The Space Marine Captain that I finished recently.

He is rather glossy, like some of the others, but I think I'll be using him as my test subject for using Dullcoat on.  If it makes I big difference, I'll post some comparision pics later.

Make sure you shake the hell out of the can or you'll still get a satin sheen to it.

It will make a big difference, from personal experience.

Painting and finishing takes longer to learn - but computers I can do.

So, do people prefer pics in this kind of format?

You said computers you can do, so do you work in a related field?

I have an undergraduate honors Masters degree is Software Engineering, so I can put MEng(Wales) after my name :)  This means that I spent far too long at university learning both the practical and the esoteric about computers, from the detail of how the hardware works, right up to dealing with high level software structures amd everything in between.

I've also turned out to be a pretty good Software Engineer in the real world, too (IIDSSM - although so does my boss :)), which means that I can do most things with computers that can be done without excessive specialist knowledge, with just a little research.

I've done enough with image manipulation in software that I find packages like PSP and GIMP quite easy to use.  And when I do get stuck, my sister is a web designer and graphic artist, so I've learned plenty of stuff from her :)

But this is all dull stuff and its getting late here, so I'll not bore you all any longer :D

OOh, I do much prefer the views all together in one picture, thanks!  I think it also makes my albums friendlier.  I used to do separate web pages for each mini, with all of the views separate, but it was really cumbersome to navigate through all that.

Another tip for the gallery; you can upload the picture any size you want.  The gallery will create a preview version that fits in a 600 x 2000 px box, but it keeps the full version in case you want to view a close-up!

That is a great paintjob, your depth, neatness, and attention to detail are great.

Yes, I can see the appeal of this now.  I will update my album accordingly, as and when I can find time :)

heh.  I have 100 gb capacity on my account, and I"m not even at 500 mb used yet!

So... if you want to be even more ambitious, you can create an "about me" web page or some such on cheddarmongers, frame in a block to your gallery, link to your web log, etc...  I enabled "url rewrites," so you can create yourself a homepage called "http://www.cheddarmongers.org/prod/keeper40k" if you wanted...  (create a webpage here:  http://www.cheddarmongers.org/prod/node/add/story and under url path settings, put in whatever you want your path to be...)

I'll reign myself in for the time being - as I could let myself get carried awayusing Cheddarmongers in more complex ways - but then I'd never get any painting done! :D
