I guess its time for a refresher of my Pewter Pops tutorial that I posted to the FoD so long ago...

Actually, they are paintbrush handles.  When a paintbrush dies, I cut off the handle at the ferrule, cut the brush in half, and drill a hole to accommodate the wire holding the mini.  It is way cheaper than buying several pin vises, and the brushes are tapered, making them more convenient to drop into the holder.

I drill the holes in the bottom of the figure that i will use to pin it to it's base when finished and put longer wire in then than needed.
I have cork's glued to plastic square base's and i pin the figure to the cork, it's just like your Pewter Pops.

Whats the problem with white basecoat?  I use it too-lighter colours are easier to paint with it.

For me, it is way easier to darken a white thing than to brighten a black thing.

I use gray primer because i can't see the detail well enought on black but if i use white, i glaze it with brown ink so the detail is shown up better.  :icon_wink:

That's the tip of the day.  :icon_razz:

Okay, I thought my Amoy was due tonight (done, waiting for varnish to dry!) and the dwarf was due tomorrow (even though Wristy and Gi6ers are done already and are kicking my butt), so here's whats up on this week's workbench:

Yes, Hawkman and Mad Hatter...  hope you don't mind the little head-start!  I don't think we set a date yet.

You are half way there with the zenithal stuff. You need to hold the mini with the top of the head facing the spray nozzle and give it a few passes. At the moment you've got a very grainy finish so keep going...Don't be too dissapointed if it doesn't work for you though. The key for me was to start spraying the white away from the mini and then bring the mini into the spray, my GW white always splatters at first and leaves chunky splodges that are visible through the basecoat.
