A couple of firsts for me on this one; my first freehand for a loooonngg time and my first try of burnishing armour rather than painting it.

The tutorial I used is on Paul Batchelor's website: http://www.paulbatchelor.com/ (http://www.paulbatchelor.com/)
That burnishing looks like a good trick.
Saw her on the FoD. Yeah, I didn't comment, but the burnishing came out amazingly well. Was it easy to do? After all, we do so much work to make painted metals look like metals, why not take advantage of the real metal the mini is made with!?!
The skin looks a little flat, but she's so very tiny, its hard to do anything without ruining her.
The fleur on the scabbard also came out great.
Cheers, Cheddar! :icon_cool: Easy to do - well... I found it took a similar amount of time to painting the armour for a much better result (for me, anyway). If you're careful and patient you should be fine. It was kinda fun in that the results really do speak for themselves and it was nice to do something 'crafty' that didn't involve a paintbrush, knife or file!
The skin has a little more depth to it than the pics show but it is tricky with such small, wonderfully smooth surfaces. I'm happy with it, anyhoo. :icon_mrgreen:
The fleur is a tad wonky but I only noticed that once I'd finished it... dur! :icon_ermm:
I'm sure that a few seconds with The Gimp, and Gi6ers could clean that fleur right up!
Impressed.....
Have you sealed the figure with varnish?
if you haven't that nice polished alloy will soon be dull grey oxidised alloy.
Its just like the real thing... keep on polishing.
I haven't yet but the thought had occured. I'll break the gloss out today :icon_cool:
