Title: Anima Tactics commission...
Post by: steeldragon on October 07, 2009, 11:20:51 PM
I'm doing some commissioned painting of Anima Tactics (that's why I've stopped working on the Chaos Dreadnought and other cool stuff).

I have mixed feelings about them... the concepts are very cool... but I'm not convinced on the scale (the guy in black is bigger than a Space Hulk Terminator) nor the sculpts, and the guy with the cape had his face ruined by the cast... but I'm not getting paid to complain but to paint :P

This are my crud*py photos, done in a hurry before my customer came to pick them up:

I was these minis pimped yesterday on twitter (or was it LAF?) Anyway, they're 1/35, right?

Miniatures sized between 35mm and 54mm seems to becoming quite popular with smaller manufacturers selling specialist ranges.  Not sure why, though, as I've not heard of anyone playing with these scales locally.

Do you see these as artworks, or gaming minis, or a bit of both Andres?

They are a little like the old Confrontation minis... they are gaming pieces with a little artwork... they have the same problem anyway... the casts are terrible with lot of fiddly parts and assembly problems in the attempt of having dynamic poses, at least the metal is not as soft as the old Confrontation models.

There are some nice things... but not really thrilled with the line.

I'm so glad I saw the word "commissions" in the thread title. For a minute there I thought you'd developed really bad taste.

The terrible thing is I have the full line to paint, around 87 models... I decided to start by factions... it almost funny to see me painting with the amount of cursing and swearing the process involves... I was interested in some of the models after seeing them online, but now they are really not my thing.

I do like Space Marines so maybe it's just a matter of aesthetics... even if I curse the same with Space Marine plastic legs (no detail behind the knees, for example)

CMON store has some pics of these minis painted, although they're not Andres' paintjobs.  I'm all confused now about where I saw what! LOL
