Title: Medieval Awards
Post by: Keeper on June 17, 2009, 07:12:40 AM
One of my friends at Sheffield Wargames ran a War of the Roses game last Sunday recreating the Battle of Tewkesbury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tewkesbury).  Although I wasn't playing, I was asked to paint some awards for those that were.  I don't know what each one was given for, but I'll try and find out.

All of these are 1/72 plastics from the Strelets Medieval Britain Set.  Bloody awful plastic to work with, but I think they've come out OK and apparantly the receipients liked them.

The bit I'm least happy with is I tried to get a bit of sheer fabric effect on the wench's bum, but it just looks a bit dirty.  Any tips for next time to improve this?

Any other C&C you have is most welcome, too! :) Especially pointers if I've painted anything incorrectly as I really don't know very much about this period!

yeah, probably should have said! :)  I painted the dress white first, then used some of the midtone flesh colour where I thought the dress should be tight to her skin.

ok, not that I've tried it but I think painting the flesh first (with less shading) and then glazing with the material colour might be the way to go....

trying to find a tutorial I saw ages ago, might have a go one day but dwarves and giant apes don't generally wear that sort of stuff so might be a while  :tip-hat:

Thanks gi6ers :)

I've got a hero or heroine to paint to enter for next month's Sheffield Irregulars painting comp, so i might give it a go there!

The kids are now out of school painting may come to a screeching halt.  Anyone who is interested check the tutorial section end of next week.  I will try and put something together.
