Title: Miniature storage chest idea
Post by: Bossco101 on May 17, 2009, 05:27:04 AM
Another woody type post I know, but I welcome thoughts to my latest idea. I've recently made this [ebay]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=390051855601[/ebay]( I hope this link works). Nice little 5 drawer wooden storage chest. Suitable for lots of the little bits and pieces we hobbists collect.

Do you think there would be demand for a bigger one, big enough to hold a foam insert from Kaiser Rushforth and therefore used for keeping and storing minis in? I wasn't thinking it would be portable, more a static base for a collection, or part thereof currently not on display.

What do you think?

Blooming link says it's gone.  :icon_scratch: Have inclosed a pic below.

I'd rather you took at as a "Why didn't this post appear in my unread items list?" ;)

How much did the item you listed on ebay sell for, Bossco?

£ 9.99 the starting price. Still never mind the next one will be better. Oh and the Mirliton has just arrived!

You could always list them as "made to order" on your website and see if there is any interest?

That's true. The MK II is now in production with a few design refinements.

Nor mine. I'd certainly have space for such an item.

In that case, when you've got some details to spill, go ahead and give us the full spec.  It certainly sounds interesting :)  Although I'd have to clear some miniatures out of the way in order to make space for one! ;)

Well the one in the picture was a 9" x 13" and I made the drawers on runners. It works well enough but I'm not not entirely happy. The Mk II will be a little smaller 8" x 12" but will feature drawer slider bases.

However a bigger one that will take a whole foam insert per tray will have to wait a little bit. I jiggered the bearings in my table saw trying to cut a piece of oak. Didn't notice the slight warp in the beam and in nipped the blade and the bearings took the brunt of the torque. Of course just getting the bearings would be too simple, so it's got to be the whole motor assembly, and they don't appear in stock till July 31st!

Thanks for the interest, I'll keep you posted.
