Title: Cursed Empire - simply cursed?
Post by: Balgin Stondraeg on December 21, 2008, 10:33:41 AM
What is going on with these people?

QuoteDear sirs,

I placed an order with you on the 24th November (paypal receipt number ****-****-****-****).

It clearly has not been posted yet. Fortunately it wasn't a christmas present for anybody but me and my mates were hoping to start a Cursed Empire campaign this month and the core rulebook is incredibly hard to find elsewhere.

Could you please inform me as to the status of my order since you've had my money for over four weeks now and I'd like to know what's going on.

They're based in Southampton. That's about twenty miles away from where I live. when I placed my order I was somewhat concerned that there were no delivery options. Just a fixed price (and for £15 I expected the two books to turn up a lot sooner than this).

Has anyone else had bad experiences of this nature with them? I'm seriously tempted to join their forum and start a new thread in their Finding a Game section that goes something like "yeah I'm trying to find a game. I'm trying to find the game I ordered from you lot that blatantly hasn't been posted yet."

Can I write what a bunch of arseholes here without upsetting the swear filter? Apparently I can.

Hi

Cursed Empires will be at Conception (South Uk, end of Jan).

If it's not resolved I could always have a few words with them....

Cheers

Well I finaly got an email from them today asking if I'd like to pick up my order at Conception and get a refund on p&p. I haven't arranged to go to Conception yet but I said I'd check with a few friends who are going or they could just like, you know, send me my stuff.

I'm waiting for a response.

Yeah, except he lives 150-200 miles away from  me and they live about 20 miles away.

Well the rulebook finaly turned up today (a mere eight and a half weeks after I ordered it). It looks like Rune Quest Lite with White Wolf art (and I'm not nneccessarily a fan of White Wolf art).

Now I'm just waiting for the screen ....

managed to get down to get down to Conception a couple of times last week where they were very friendly, appologised a lot for the mess, gave me the GM screen that hadn't come through the post, refunded some of my p&p costs and I played a few games with them to get a handle on the rules.

So I'll be running it sometime in the near future and should be fine with it provided we don't use the magic system (it's sort of like Ars Magicka magic rules where you create spells in realtime from various elements and components...).

There are a few errors (like "this spell allows a necromancer to create skeletons and zombies from dead bodies" and then there's no stats for skeletons and zombies). Most of these can be worked around with a little imagination. When I asked it wasn't so much stuff they hadn't done as things that had got left out. The first edition rulebook had tiny stat blocks for about 80 monsters crammed into the back whereas the second edition rulebook has a monster manual style chapter with really good monster stat blocks for about 20 of them (with some amusing errors on a few of them but you can obviously see what they should say).
