This reminds me that I need to make a section for competitions
looks good, if i can get some painting time sorted i may enter............but don't hold me to it :icon_wink:
I am thinking about it too but like you said don't hold me to it :icon_wink:
Never noticed how short a time you have to paint in, "January 15th to February 25th" 41 days and i'm a very slow painter. :icon_w00t:
Started a couple of possible entries today, got some more lead coming this week too. If one ends up looking ok I'll enter it :icon_silly:
Got one picked form my lead mountain and hopefully i will get a good lot done to her this weekend.
I want to get one done before i start anymore for the comp.
i now have something to work on. just need to buy some primer and find the time to paint it :icon_neat:
lets see if i can actually enter an online comp for once! :icon_mrgreen:
Anyone who knows my style of photo taking can spot mine when i enter any comps...
Going to have to do something drastic and use a background with this figure. :icon_mrgreen:
Mountain of lead, no time, short time frame.....god I wish there were more hours in a day
Do what i did and pick a few you want to do and then pick one from them to do and if you have time after finishing it, then start another. :icon_wink:
I'm going for a Fantasy book cover style for mine, I will be painting mine a bit different.
It's handy when your not worried about winning and can try something different with a figure for a contest. :artist:
My first entry is in, and I'm quite pleased with it!
That was fast! Once the contest is over post it in the gallery section.

Will do!
Second entry will be complete next week, and I'll see how many others I can get done (I usually paint a mini per week for relaxation so shouldn't be any time pressure).
I'm still doing the skin on mine. :icon_redface:
Found a few choice minis for the contest; I can't compete in skill, so I go for creativity or comic relief...
That means that my Weekly Workbench journal will be on hold while I work on these...
I wish I had time to relax. Don't feel bad Wristaction, I am still looking at my pile of lead wishing I had the time to pick and prep one for painting.

Good to see ya David! Do you have any more images of your mascot?
Entry no.2 is in, VERY pleased with her face.
I am jealous you have time to paint!
Painting the wings on a bloody flying horse myself... :swear:
... but your niece loves you for it.
She once tried to bribe me to buy her one of the Scooby Doo films, she said if i give you *checks her money* £1.28 will you get me the Scooby Doo film.
I didn't take the money and checked which one as there and it was the second one she wanted, i checked and it was just as cheep to buy the box set of both films.
Turned out it was the first one she wanted so it was lucky. :icon_rolleyes:
She kept checking yesterday while she was here to see what was done, but the procreate had to dry first and then the primer.
By Tuesday I should be half way through my entry. I'm going for new techniques on mine so its gunna either look great or pants.
@Reaperman - what techniques?

:yeahthat: You beat me to it.
Can't really say as it gives away part of my plan, and I want to leave you with something to ponder over till I can unveil it. :icon_mrgreen: But I did finish what I had planned for the end of tuesday and its the best thing I've ever painted. just to leave you wanting more :icon_lol:
Yay, cheddar entry #1 submitted! :viking:
I am jealous. I have had no time to do anything. Good luck guys!
cheddar #2 almost done, just needs to be based and photographed!
Cheddar #2 :22_yikes:
Got a long weekend off coming up so i should get one done before it ends i hope... :icon_sad:
Might get a couple more entries done, had a day of house/car cleaning today and have the whole day free tomorrow for painting...
Yay, I got my second entry in! she was a little camera shy, wanted another dusting of dullcoat.
Changed my mind about what figure i'm doing and started a new one today.
Making her stand first and then the painting will start with no sodden pony's about. :thefinger:
Waaaaaaaa! I'm stuck on my entry #3, Deadly Duel -- my tablesaw is frozen, so I can't cut the base! I'll either wait for the temp to rise enough to unfreeze the saw, or I'll cut it by hand, or I'll buy something pre-cut. I realy rather use the tablesaw for a precision square base. No, the saw is too big and heavy bring inside.
Portable heater, start a fire? How badly do you want to use the saw?
Bah... with that tablesaw, I could knock out a perfect rectangular base in a minute. Maybe I'll make individual bases then incorporate them into the scenic base later.
Too close quarters for a portable heater; the electric ones I have won't do anything in the garage, seeing its about zero F in there, and I have the cars and a bulldozer in the garage, so I don't want to fire up the portable kerosene or propane heaters. I'll just wait and see if the temps get a bit warmer in the next week or so. Or I'll go to Michaels and see if I can find anything suitable.
The tablesaw is a vintage Craftsman that my dad just gave me; it has a cast iron table, and it is belt-driven. The belt is just too hard to flex and run through the pulleys right now.
What about a hair dryer, any use.
worth a try, I suppose!
I was thinking about that too. Try it, anything in order to use your own tools.
Mine will be finished tomorrow, i kicked my butt this evening and got more done to her and she's looking good. :icon_salut:
Won't get a place or anything but i'm well happy with her. :icon_razz:
All finished and i'm going to get the picture's taken now. :icon_rr:
Must find a background so no one can guess which is mine. :icon_paranoid:
uh-oh!
I wonder how many entries Nathan will get this time.
Yay, they're up!
94 entries? Wow.
