Last Thursday I went to GW and asked about the Apocalypse Book and about the Terminus Pattern Land Raider.
I said to the staff member that I have enough money for one of them and not both and I said which should I get first even though I need the tank asp for a game in 3 days the staff member said get the book first.
I asked if the Rules for the Terminus Pattern Land Raider are in the book and the staff member said yes all the Apocalypse models are in the book so its going to be in there.
I get home and have a quick look in the book not seeing the tank in there I think I may have just gone past it as it was late.
The next day after work I have a good all look from page to page and its not in there so I phone GW head office and tell them what is going on.
I get told by the staff member on the phone to go all back to the shop and complain and I my get something for [ FREE ] I was like what the hell I might as well.
It is now Monday I had to take the day of work to do this.
I go to GW and then as nice as I can tell them all this and that I have had to take the day of work to come and sort it all out.
The staff manager in GW to day looked at me funny and said we don't give out free things its a shop policy.
I then ask for a refund on the book as I have my reseat he looks at and said sorry but the book is not like how you got it as its not in its packing so I do not have to take it back.
I phone GW head office as I am standing in the GW shop and ask to speak the the same man I was chatting to on the phone the last time I then hand over my phone the the GW manager and the two of them have a nice no I am right no your not I am right on my phone.
As I am standing there this kid asks if he can see the minis I have in my bag so I say yes you can but don't drop them ok the kid said thanks and ok I won't he picks up the NETHERLORD 2 and asked the other staff member to show him where the box is for this mini well I just about wet my pants LOL.
I told the kid where to get it from and all about the FOD shops as I am standing in the GW shop.
I ask the GW shop manager for my phone back as I have to get of now and I asked was I going to get something for free or not he looks at me and said NO and went of to the other end of the shop where that kids mum was standing.
I say thanks to the GW man on the phone as he did his best he said don't think this is the end I shall call you back in a day or so and I am going to report that manager for being an ass. LOL
I put my NETHERLORD 2 back in its bag and said to the kid I hope to see you on the FOD with your new NETHERLORD 2 one day. he said yes.
so that was my day out at least there is one good thing from all of this its that kid is now going to shop at the FOD shops and I think that is cool.
The other fun thing is when his mum asked is this what you really won't for Christmas he said no I'd like that NETHERLORD 2 from that heresy miniatures in a Loud voice.
the cases continue to build against them !!! That guy on the phone was ok though, he must be new.....

Well it is good that you voiced your opinion. You should go ahead and report the guy to the main offices and see if it goes anywhere for you. He is selling the product, it is not too much to ask for him to know what is it in it. Hell anyone you ask from a FOD company knows their products, but then again I am camparing good companies to....
I hope Andy get that sale on the NL2 for that kid.

all I can say now is I am now not going to start an Apocalypse so GW just lost out.

My complaints with GW are about their TERRIBLE "push lame ass games on people" system and what they have done to their game world. If I didnt love that world so much I would have left 40k ages ago-but cant seem to bring myself to. its like watching a trainwreck in slo mo.
Chaos Space Wolves and Ultramarines? Oh My. No more Squats but newly added anime fruitcakes? Awesome. Lame novels describing the Horus Heresy that arent supposed to be taken as canon? WOWZERS.

GW lost me a long time ago. I went into thier store and everyone was friendly enough. But the problem I had was thier prices. Sorry.
Whatever can be said, GW (to my mind) has the best organized play you can find in the world of minis. If you play a GW game, you'll always find an opponent, simply by going in the closest store. This is one big thing Rackham, for example, totally failed in... Today, after trying many other games, I'm seriously considering coming back to my old 40K Eldars because of this :icon_neutral:

In fact I live just on the other side of the channel. If you go to Portsmouth and if the weather is clear you will maybe see me waving at you... :) Anyway, I've already ranted in the rant thread recently, but to sum it up I'm sometimes fed up with living in a 100 000+ inhabitants city and not being able to find a player for the games I play (or try to).
Otherwise, what happened to you is really lame. GW stuff is already very expensive for what it is (and contains), all the more when you are told that's what you need and in fact it's not... :icon_evil:

But I lost the little love I had for GW in about July. Theres just so much more better stuff available now.
The nearest GW shop to me is in Belfast, which is either an hour's on the train ( and waiting for the next train back, which could be an hour's wait) and then finding the shop as I don't know Belfast, or driving up and paying for parking.
Neither is something I really want to do, so it works out better for me to shop online with GW.
The very odd time the was a problem with my order, they sorted it out no problem, But that was with online ordering.
It was my sister and the GW figures she had (she played RPG's) that get me started collecting figures, if there had been a GW store in my town then I would have been into the gaming side as well and been painting the last 24 years instead of just over 2, I don't count the year when I didn't have a clue and then the 20 years gap in painting.
A shop that has space set aside for gaming, will draw people to it because they can play.
I don't game, I only buy figures that catch my eye. I am very neutral when ti comes to GW and just respect what they have done for the community.

That is essentially my exact point of view. I buy GW regiments because they are cost effective for town guard, but I buy other companies (mostly reaper) for everything else. I don't game, and I get my GW paints from the hobby shop, not the GW shop. The closest one to me is on the north side of Detroit, while I live just south, so it's a good hour away. Another point I have in defense of GW is that models in general are very expensive. I may witch* that a Land Raider goes for 60 bucks-but I just paid that much for a 1/35 Jagdtiger made by Dragon models. Arguabley, GW has created a community that urges you to use that model for far more then a dust cover for your shelf.
While the models are less detailed, they are a LOT sturdier and just beg for a new player to try and customize them.

Understood-I was merely referring to their tanks -like the Chimera or the Land Raider. The quality of their plastic tank kits has improved a LOT from the old days-the Land Raider for example is a well done kit. The prices involved in the whole hobby ARE atrocious tho
The prices are obsurd. I do like some of the new things that have come out, like the new plastic tanks (but hate those prices again!).
I wish there was a company that turned out something as cool-the only good replacement armies im aware of are for squats-and for them ive seen quite a few.
Now I just buy my GW stuff online or at the last day of Gencon.
If you used knights in full plate armour, you could convert them to GW space marines.
They would need the right stance and this would work for chaos marines too.
I've never played WarHamster or WH40K (never considered either one to be a good use of the money), so I've never liked GW.
Only been in a GW store twice. Once, before I knew of the limited selection they actually carried, I went in to browse for games (confusion with Game Designers Workshop, the company which produced the Traveller RPG). The second time was to get in from the rain for a few minutes while in Edinburgh.

I know they dont make Squats anymore but did they just delete them from 40k? I've read articles (in WD) about Squat worlds within the Human systems but these were from a while back.
I think they really wiped them out. That's really a shame. They could at least have made them part of the imperial forces, just like ratlings or ogryns. Squats were mutants just like them after all...
Maybe one day we'll also see exodites, there was not even minis made for those! I think GW was about to cast some for Space Marine Epic when they stopped it.

Exodites? never heard of them. I would have thought GW would prefer even more races, variety being the spice of life. GW seem to have given up the conquest of world domination for their products, I think the company could do with being bought by a fans consortium :icon_wink:
Basically, the writers felt the squat lore was too standard and silly and really didnt fit in with 40ks drift from "fantasy in space with dwarves" to "slightly less fantasy in space with no dwarves". The story released was that the squat homeworlds near the core were scoured by Hive Fleet Kraken.
Yes...all the squats were apparently wiped out. All of them. And it was all very amusing to the creator of the game. You are supposed to play your army as "counts as" imperial guard or Orcs.
However the Tau (bleh) are in contact with the Demiurg-a spacefaring group of dwarves who might signal a return for the squats. Except this time they will be fighting for the Tau.
As I said earlier...my problems with 40 k are with its story- They came out with an incredibly amazing world..and have pushed to make it less and less so. Every mention of the Imperium has it losing-every mention of the Tau/Necrons/Tyranids talk of temporary set backs(origonally it wasnt-it lost worlds but gained them as well)...and even at the loyalist heart of the Imperium we now find Ultramarins and Space Wolves working for Chaos(look at the Astral Claws). It drives me nuts that they cannot simply leave it alone. 1000 Chapters and they need to screw over the founders of the Imperium(Ultramarines and the rest instrumental in keeping it together after the Heresy)? A whole army removed on a whim in a game that sells because of its rich background material(and they kept in the Dark Eldar? What..All 6 players witch*ed about it?)? A doomsday scenario so over the top that our only hope is that various doomsday scenarios will cancel each other out and create a "no wipeout" nullzone? An Imperium whose beurocracy has gone from rediculously slow and monumental in nature to COMPLETELY INCOMPETANT?
Hell..the Warhammer "OMG THE END IS COMING DOOM OH NOES" problem even seems to have ruined the upcoming MMORPG.
The prices suck-but I would still pay for them. I love the Space Marines (and their Sardukar/Spartan/Huscarl fathers), I love the Eldar and ive even come to love the "KrOrks". I really wish their prices would drop but I dont find any other firms peices nearly as interesting and I dont see GW changing until someone does. Rackham is pricier and suffers from worse proportion problems, Privateer Press suffers from a lack of detail<for the most part> and the Reaper doesnt have anything to fill in for 40k-

I understand that the imagery is either "like or dislike" which means the mini line is the same. I know the heads are too big. I know the new Captain Sicarius model looks retarded but I honestly think GW is winning because it did the work. Their art is astounding, their background is cool and they managed to smash through any opposition they found. I am not adverse to trying other companies-I blew quite a lot of cash on Rakham and a lot on Reaper as well...but I dont think any firm exists right now that can take the crown from them (although that new line with its own forum subject here on CH seems great).

Exodites are Eldars who prefered to (or had to...) settle on new worlds instead of living on craftworlds after the fall. They breed droves of dinosaurs-like beasties to sell their meat. They haven't kept as much technology as the Craftworld, but from what I remember they still have some...In term of troops it was supposed to give things like pteranodons riders with lascanons, etc...They used big armored walkers to keep their cattle. They called it "knights" and it was between the walker and the light titan. Exodites are also supposed to be organized as clans, and the highest rank you have, the most powerful knight you have...

Plans for them to return sounds good. It makes sense for GW to produce them as they still charge the same prices as other figs but they're nearly half the size !!! If they do come back I bet they'll all be plastic to annoy me....
Rackham prices arent that bad as long as you pick the right figures. Some are so thin and wispy that you're afraid to touch them for fear of breaking them, these ones are well over priced. The Tir-Na-Bor Dwarves are quite large and chunky and you get a decent amount of metal for your money, no plastic parts either which I like.
Yeah theres no company still that can rival GW, there'd have to be merging of companies to achieve that and that would probably be for the worse in the long run.
Not sure I like the sounds of futuristic warriors on dinosaurs. If the dinosaurs had technological implants and metal plates etc it would work I think

Some Exodites are xenophobic while others trade and intermingle with men. Eldar Exodite Knights and Imperial Knights played the same game of thrones on shared worlds. That part was pretty cool.

I think they've made some stock and their minis will still be available, but soon or late they'll probably stop. But it seems to be ok right now...
yeah I think its inevitable but please not b4 xmas !!! I've enough things to worry about buying without those too
