Question:
which imp would you sell your soul for?
Option 1: imp #1
Option 2: imp #2
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Gi6ers/impfinal.jpg) is imp #1
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/Medved1/meanimp.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/Medved1/imp2.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/Medved1/imp3.jpg) is imp #2
lets the tiny souls war begin!
thats tough.
they are both great
It's Imp 2 for me, the highlighting is that much more detailed and makes it more '3D' and the simple base sets off this detail work nicely. Imp 1 is still great and looks cute! :clap2:
WOW!!
Good job Stu, may the best man win. (I think he will and I'm voting for my own anyway :icon_wink:)
The yellow tear from the right eye on the bottom one clinches it for me and the pentagram as well.
Both well done. :clap2:
Yeah I'd say both are equally well done. Actually the base of no.1 is "better" (more work put into it) but the base of no.2 is simply more fitting. And the shading/highlighting is more dramatic.
So, sorry no 2 for me as well.

well that is entirely unintentional, that's my shaky hand and dodgy highlighting! but if it gives you something extra then what the heck!
I voted, nice work by both of you. It was hard to choose. Did anyone post alink to this thread anywhere else?
They're both great - so hard to choose! But I did. Summoned Imp for me.
After you vote can everyone see who is winning? (I ask because I can always see the results)
I guess so it's the same on FOD..
I didn't get over there yet today.
I can.
I like them both. Prefer the second one skightly!

I thought we weren't supposed to know who painted which one :icon_rolleyes:
I think it's fairly obvious.....and to be honest I don't mind losing to that standard of painting.
It was a lot closer than it looks. I thought both were painted as well as each other but Medveds looked more evil and fitting.
I figured that out right away.

Oh he came right out and said that was his, lol
dont go on Frothers myself, I could just tell from the base :icon_wink:
I usually just go to the "Colonel Marbles' Miniatures Frothzone"
so Matt how did you paint yours?
i worked from a white undercoat and painted the little blighter gory red (vallejo game colour) and then added a little black ( to get a brown shade) to do some shading , basically painting around the bottom of muscles and under the chin, cheeks, eye sockets.
i then added a little more black and did the areas in most shade.
then came the highlighting which was gory red + white to make a pinky colour (think squid pink or tit pink in GW) this was watered down and feathered onto areas that needed highlights. (all the areas that would be hit from light from above)
the mini looked quite odd at this stage. i then did the black bits which were the highlighted with 50:50 black and sombre grey (shadow grey in GW) then add a bit of wolf grey (VGC) for the next hightlight feathered on.
then the mini got a red ink glaze (GW) where the highlighting was too stark i used a heavier (more opaque) ink glaze.
then the eyes were painted black and then whites inside the black bit. a yellow circle was painted with a bit of red mixed in. to make the iris. then a black pupil was added.
the pentacle was painted in white and touched up with black around it, i then glazed it with red ink to give the glow effect (getting a bit on the black)
then the whole thing was dullcoated which brought it all together.
Yeah number 2 for me as well...............it's the eyes that clinch it for me. :clap2:
-Tony
I went from a white undercoat to GW foundation red up through red gore to blood red with blazing orange added for the highlights. Did a light wash of scorched brown between 2 or 3 of the layers.
Matt used a white undercoat! :icon_eek:

I don't. I really like Frothers. It's a great place and I enjoy the bantering :) So I go to "messages since last visit" every time.
Me too - just to watch some of the debates/arguments/name-calling is entertaining. Mike - if you're hoping to go to Salute, you can read about the Frother demo game in Clubs and Communities. It was great fun to take part in last year and to watch.
The plan will be to make the trip over so I guess I need to read up on all of that. Has the date been announced for '08?

I still have lots to do for the demo game...
I have the cliffs roughed out and the basic dry river bed with flyover done just needs detailing and painting.... the next 4' board, I have bits done for....
the last board is still bare waiting for a meet up to plan the road layout as a few people are doing buildings, and we want to get shapes done suitable for everyone to go away and do their buildings.
But I have 2 vehicles done (3 more to paint... one more to get moulded for scenery along with the caravans).... I still have to buy a couple of figures for the planned gang.. and get a mould done for more vehicles.. oh and then paint the figures for my gang.....
and do the public toilets with the attendant
